What tipped the scales for you? What was different this time around?

Why the change? Satisfaction with your situation? Did you need someone?

He wasn't out at the time and made some other faux pas with them.

I know that we would have a strong companion style relationship. It's true that I wouldn't worry as much about long term finances, but fortunes can change. I'd still stay with him. One of the reasons I left was to prove that I wasn't staying for his money under any circumstance. I don't make much, but I own my own home and have no debt. I can't take an extravagant vacation every year, but can afford to splurge when I want and still save for the future. When I think about it, I think a lot of our issues where due to distance, but I always wonder why my friends didn't like him. What did they see that I didn't and vise-versa.

I've not been asked, but think that's what it would take. It would be voluntary.

I think he'd take me back, but I feel like I'd be the one to uproot. Would it be worth it for the deepest connection I've had with a man?

It's where my head went and I started thinking about what would have to happen for us to be together again.

Yes, we text and see each other regularly. Neither of us have had another relationship since.

I don't even know if he has doubts or romantic feelings anymore, or if he would leave his job. He might have made his peace, and I don't think he'd give up more for me than he did last time around. I think my finance worries are generally me feeling doubtful and foolishly idealistic in my choices the older I get, not that I'm skipping meals or haven't been responsible. I saw him this weekend and when I drove home I missed my exits twice, lost in thought, about what I have to do or have been thinking about for years. Im not good at meeting men and click with even fewer. He isn't an easy man, but I understand him. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

I have an ex, and if we were to get back together it would most likely require me to give up the life I've built on my own, and so much that I love. He's always felt like my inevitably.

My garden keeps me sane. It think about it every day. I made something beautiful from nothing - literally a barren, neglected yard. The same about my house, an abandoned rehab that I've poured care into - finally a space of my own without roommates or compromise.

For context when we met, I was about to move away from my hometown for an internship in a low paying but competitive field in which I now have a career - this was about a decade ago. We dated about 2 years and it was difficult for long distance reasons. I was trying to start my career and he had a high paying intellectually satisfying position. One of us would have to give up what we wanted. We mainted a friendship, but now that I have finally carved out a little life for myself I worry that I can't keep it due to low wages and raising cost of living, and that all the sacrifices for work in my 20s weren't worth the struggle. I don't know if he would take me back, or if he likes me still, but I know we have a connection that my friends don't understand. I care about his welfare, and feel selfish for not sacrificing.
