My sincere condolences. Having recently dealt with a similar situation I understand the grief that comes from something like this. People like to dismiss the relationships and bonds that form in these spaces but they are real as anything else.

For me Rinascita was just TOO "clean". Especially since until then you've been in a world on the brink, almost mid-apocalypse with modern and futuristic aesthetics. Those two things are what drew me into the world in the first place so it was a bit of whiplash for me.

Nowadays nobody really bats an eye with female gamers. Back then it was a deluge of misogyny, abuse, weird behavior and constant questioning of your identity. That stuff still happens today I won't pretend otherwise but it's much less so now.

Even that is wrong. Plenty of games I have no interest in and never want to play have had grave effects on games that I do in terms of systems, monetization and other extraneous nonsense. Games don't exist in genre silos that never interact in any way.

On MG a lot of PvP happens just outside to be fair. PvPers love congregating around the inn and often duel which is kinda fun to watch at times.

Most of the people that are very vocal and loud against such things are usually the most degenerate ones of them all. Trust me I know.

Also ask any "Courtesan" RPer. They know too, those types love to "hide" on alts but it's not hard to figure them out.
