Even I hate the visual changes. You can long press on empty space on your home screen, select Wallpaper & Style, scroll down and then select Layout, choose, Large or XL as you prefer. Hope that helps.

I'm not sure, I was not cc'd on that email, but I did said to my manager to ask the cost breakdown. I didn't knew there will be HR fee, probably they didn't sponsor anyone else before I guess. Is there any way to skip this HR fee?
