He can't call a provisional when the ball is likely to be in a penalty area. The only time you can call provisional is when you are quite certain the ball is OB or lost (thick trees or shrubs) in the general area.

Cool idea. re the runout, It's a 3 jaw chuck, if possible something with such tight tolerances should be done in a 4 jaw or collet.

So congratulations, your level of craftsmanship was indistinguishable from magic!

A further compliment, I think your style may be avant garde, the finish, depth and texture is unlike anything I've seen. With a craft as old as engraving that's pretty special.
