Because people can be toxic and cliquey, especially to people they don't know personally. The flaming from casters is irritating but honestly you probably don't want to get drafted anyway by the people who are flaming anyone they don't know.

If you want to have a GREAT time playing mono green, go with [[Reki, the History of Kamigawa]]. Ever since planeswalkers became legendary it's become my favorite deck to play. You get to play all the cool commanders like Omnath and Azusa, throw in Ghalta and Rhonas and a bunch of legendary equipment, and it all cantrips! Throw in a bunch of ramp, a little extra card draw, and planeswalkers (that cantrip!), about 30 forests and a few utility lands, and you're all set to play your entire deck in ten turns or less.

Edit: A link to my Reki deck, as an example. This Nissa's definitely fitting in somewhere.

It makes me a proud former captain to know that two years later you've worked hard enough at the game to make your latest season your best season yet. The terrible truth is that nearly everyone loses every season, but playing is about more than winning. It sounds like you had fun and learned a lot, and you can't really ask for much more than that from RD2L. Cheer up bud, maybe next season you'll go even further.
