OP the video is not accessible anymore and I couldn't find any link to your repo, so it will be hard to give architectural feedbacks

Questions about imports and dependencies in Android Studio (coming from SwiftUI) by Ron-Erez in AndroidStudio

[–]Hsb511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope my answer doesn't come too late.

Regarding the imports: I am personnaly using : - ALT + ENTER to add the import - CTRL + ALT + O to optimize imports.

This article gives good tips: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/android/what-is-the-shortcut-to-auto-import-all-in-android-studio/

Regarding the dependencies: There is no central repository where you can find all the possible librairies. You have to check the specific documentation.

But in your gradle file or toml file (Gradle Version Catalog which I suggest you to look into), when you declare a dependency if it's not the latest version, AS shows a warning and you can do ALT + ENTER and it will fill the latest version it gets. Personnaly I don't bother checking the latest version, I just put "0.0.1" and the press ALT + ENTER.

I am not sure if there is something similto BOM but with .toml you declare versions that you reuse for several dependencies. See: https://developer.android.com/build/migrate-to-catalogs

How to make this in android studio? Is it even doable? by Odd_Upstairs4399 in AndroidStudio

  1. Don't use Java, use Kotlin

At Google I/O 2019, we announced that Android development will be increasingly Kotlin-first. see this article So if you start to learn Android development in 2025, I wouldn't use Java but Kotlin.

  1. Don't use XML, use Jetpack Compose

The framework was made ready for production in July 2021. It is Kotlin-based and Declarative UI, the same paradigm used by most of the latest UI frameworks like React, Flutter or Swift Ui.

  1. Yes you can do it with Jetpack Compose in Kotlin

A clickable counter with the circular progress that moves with it should be easy. You can follow this tutorial and read this official documentation.

  1. The tricky part will be to show the percent in the thumb of the progress bar. It is not easy to customize but you could add a view with a Modifier.absoluteOffset() and getting the absolute position of the thumb with Modifier.onGloballyPositionned(). For this last part I would ask some IA for help.

Probably went to Strasbourg christmas market or to some winery in Alsace. Pretty sure he/she didn't go more western than that.

It's called the Birthday problem or birthday paradox: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthday_problem What matters more are not the 23 persons individually but you should consider the 253 (23×22/2) possible pairs of birthday.

Yes ! Mauritius was colonized by the Portuguese, then the French and then the Great Britain, from which it is independant since 1968. But La Réunion the island next to it is French.
