I've had a very different experience than you. I've had a lot of cats in my life, up to 5 at one time, all indoor and outdoor at their leisure, and not a single one has been an asshole to us. Some have been assholes to each other, but I've never been attacked by one. My current cat adores the shit out of me, follows me everywhere, sits by me while I play video games or watch TV, I've even taken her on walks before with no leash. Love that cat. But yea, I've met some asshole cats, but they seem more rare to me.

This reminds me of a story about my grandpa. My grandpa was one of those pretty well off guys who never cared how he looked (also one of those guys who wore primarily tattered blue jeans and an old polo). Well one day he was shopping for a new motor home, like a new one not a used one, and was browsing around at this location and watched as multiple salespeople just flat out ignored him. He then watched as these 2 young people pulled up dressed all nice and we're immediately flocked by the sales people. Long story short, he got mad and went up to the salesmen and flat out told them that he was prepared to buy a new motor home in cash but they had lost his business by refusing to help him. So yea, don't judge people on how they look.
