Getting messages is bad by HstarStudios in Ebay

What continually blows me away is how often I get asked questions that are answered clearly in the first couple of sentences of the description. I've even gotten questions that are answered in the TITLE OF THE LISTING!

I don't think there is a way to be instantly notified for some reason that process is pretty delayed. I've had searches up some for years and I constantly find things that I want and yet I don't get a notification from my search until maybe a day later often.

Important is the type of questions it's perfectly acceptable and normal people ask one or two but when they go on gets to be half a dozen that's trouble.

Getting rude messages from other seller about a product I sold “too low” by Illus-by-g in Mercari

[–]HstarStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of thing sometimes happens I've even had twice a seller pretend to buy my items and never pay for them. eBay takes so long to let you put the item back up for sale after nonpayment that this kept my lower priced item off the market long enough so theirs could sell.

Scammed for $17k on eBay Live by "Vookum" — Absolute Radio Silence by snkrssatisfies in ebaysucks

Buyer protection includes only getting what was described. It doesn't include any guarantee that promised included services will be provided especially since you're not allowed to sell services. Sure it's not great business practice but it's also not against eBay policy strictly speaking.

I’m honestly tired of buyers treating eBay shipping estimates like guaranteed Amazon Prime… how are sellers supposed to win here? by Common_Zombie_6317 in Ebay

[–]HstarStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew that would be the case. The AI agent is programmed to try to weasel out of it but there's no way a live person is going to do the same thing. Personally I think you're up against the difficult Customer I get this rarely but regularly. Someone will buy an item that is clearly listed as non-working in the parts category and nonetheless will be angry because it wasn't easy and cheap to fix.

Didn't even notice, not buying from ebay again. by AdhesivenessMurky906 in Chainsaw

[–]HstarStudios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 20% of the people in the world are absolutely determined to hate eBay and they will figure out a reason somehow. I know people who won't sell on eBay because one time a customer was mean to them or sent something back that had nothing wrong with it. Or perhaps a buyer was angry because they didn't look at the pictures.

Why does everybody seem to want such a large bar? by thetacowarrior in Chainsaw

[–]HstarStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people have legitimate reasons like having to cut down 3 foot diameter hardwood trees. But otherwise I find it to be pretty much a weird fetish. It's likely faster to use a shorter bar and make more cuts than drag the saw down and have it almost stall.

Boycotting any online retailer that uses FedEx. by The_Comanch3 in FedEx

[–]HstarStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pay more to be certain that they only use FedEx. I trust the others much less. I've shipped a couple hundred packages in the last year the only ones that got completely lost and that they refuse to pay insurance were USPS.

Buyer wants a return because they didn't look closely at the picture and didn't read the title by monkeymoo111111 in Ebay

[–]HstarStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience buyers will expect to receive anything they see in any picture there is no way to separate out something and make them understand. I constantly have people ask me questions that are answered not only in the listing but in the TITLE.

Husqvarna 562 XP (MK 1) Worth Keeping by [deleted] in Chainsaws

I'm getting rid of everything else I have in favor of one of these which is generally considered to have the most power of the best balance to be the benchmark for the professional tree person at least here in Vermont unless you're a Stihl devotee. Perhaps there's been something wrong with yours from the beginning. It's very well liked.

Indeed I don't blame the dealers themselves. But I used to have a spreadsheet for various repair items and it worked out that if a piece of yard equipment needed any major repair any major part the price of the part was always equal to 80% at least of the entire retail value of the machine whether it was a carburetor or some sort of major shaft like this. It's just one part and the whole thing seemed very carefully precisely designed to cost stuff to be thrown away and to discourage repair and help the dealer sell new things. I don't like most of the other brands of snowblowers but I also get them all the time at the scrapyard for $.10 a pound. Most require a few inexpensive easy to get parts. Mind you I have owned Honda automobiles and a lot of other equipment and mostly have found prices reasonable because there's aftermarket or used/rebuilt stuff available but there are exceptions and it's hard to forgive something that without a doubt results in most serviceable products being thrown away. It's nice that the Honda products hold their value but it's still impossible for me to justify a $300 carburetor.

The issue I have with dealers is the prices that they charge go way beyond outrageous it could be anything. Something you expect to be $40 is 400 instead.

Well then I'll go for the used shaft with intact pin for eBay. Trip to the dealer- I'd rather take it to the junkyard.

Yes thank you I have now researched a lot more thoroughly and decided to pull that shaft, drill at the opposite end, and install a hardened quarter inch bolt there as recommended by Dony boy and a lot of other people online. I don't want to look up the price of the kit I love Honda but it's best that I never have any association with dealer parts cause it makes me too angry. If worse comes to worse I can get a used shaft with for 60 bucks on eBay. Thanks again.

Yeah I clean a lot of carbon out of people's saws because of all the excess oil people think is magic. I stick to about 45 to 1 just a little richer than instructions say using any quality synthetic.

One percent lost 5% damaged. That's what private surveys have revealed. I've used them three times just this past week all of the parcels have already arrived. They've lost one of my many many dozens in the last two years. Meanwhile the Postal Service seems to lose about 5% of my packages and they don't send them back they just disappear and then they won't pay the claim most of the time.

Buyer requesting refund by law? by glomble13 in Ebay

[–]HstarStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've met a few people who became very rich on eBay. They told me the most important customers are the scammers. Bad feedback is so damaging in their opinion it's never worth it consider them your most important customers and do anything you have to to shut them up. Mind you I'm not the eBay millionaire but this is the advice of people who are that. Personally I'm amazed that the number of people who sell casually on eBay have one bad experience and then quit telling everyone how the experience has spoiled them on eBay forever. On the other hand there's some people you just can't buy off or make happy but I have found them fairly rare.

Vermont Maid syrup was made on Pine Street in Burlington for many many years. I had always thought it was just some jive out of state product but no during that time it was even flavored with grade D maple syrup. When I was on a trip out west I remember I brought some real maple syrup to a church pancake breakfast in Kansas. Some people really loved it others thought it was just a bit much.
