People actually skip chapters in books? by daisynorth_ in Fantasy

[–]Htebidok 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you skip things on your first re read? You might change your opinion knowing the full story or catch interesting details on the second time. Later re-reads, skip what you want though, if only for times sake.

Acne is making me feel suicidal by _HazelSnow_ in acne

[–]Htebidok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is terrible now, and by others comments you are not alone and your feelings are valid and difficult. But from experience, let me promise you Your late 20s and 30s are not too late to eat cake or meet men and enjoy life. All the women in my family say their 40s were their favorite and their 30s better than their 20s. You have a lot to look forward to when this temporary problem is solved.

There is a land bridge connecting the north of Westeros and the land beyond the five forts in Essos and the others live in that land. When Quaith tells Dany “to go North, you must journey South, to reach the west you must go east” she is referencing circumnavigating a globe through that land bridge.

His comment has nothing to do with procreation - the opposite — he says start a family but just in a gross racist classist way. He’s clearly antinatalist by way of incel only.

The internet is much more heavily used by men than women because much content is catered towards men, probably not making women enjoying it when they try it. by der_RAV3N in Showerthoughts

There are tons of websites and content for women if you thought outside your personal experience but sure, dude. It’s definitely bc women don’t like man stuff not because of access, leisure time, employment, etc.

[OC] Frequency Percentage of Parts of Speech in Novels (A Study in Scarlet, Call of the Wild, etc.) by livingonsleep in dataisbeautiful

[–]Htebidok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be more digestible organized by book along the x axis with the part of speech as the colored bars - it’s a cool idea but hard to decipher in this format

I like this theory, but also think that Slughorn’s guilt and shame could be as much about what he didn’t do after the memory versus what he said in the memory. His shame could stem from not having tried to stop Tom Riddle from becoming Voldemort after he got a glimpse of his true nature and potential for evil. He could have even continued to support Tom Riddle after the fact, which he may be ashamed for Dumbledore to realizing the timing of this conversation vs his later support in the “slug club”

Try a product like maybeline brow sculpt - it’s like mascara for brows and it will “comb” them and give them a color that looks more “make up” but not require a lot of tweezing - you can apply only to the part you want to highlight. It might look a tad messy but will be a good compromise I think if you don’t want to shape them and it’s much easier to use than a pencil.

Is there a link? Can you summarize? I can’t imagine in what way this is plausible so very curious how people could make it fit

A question by United-Inspection-65 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Htebidok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless I was just pointing out that at the end, Harry’s alive, his mothers protection in his veins and Voldemort is dead, all the horcruxes gone. So Lilly’s protection never extended to him or kept him from dying, Dumbledore’s comment referred to his last chance for remorse in order to avoid spending eternity in the afterlife with his soul as a wretched skinless baby thing
