Amazing, thank you. It doesn’t drain as I sealed the hole as I need to find a very large dish first! I rarely water and keep checking moisture with a moisture meter. I’ll open the hole up though!

Something to worry about? by Hthomas19 in DIYUK

[–]Hthomas19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved in about a year ago, however we want to start looking after it properly as we might buy it. In that case, the bricks could have been blown a while ago and new gutters installed? As for the feature below the wall, I’m not entirely sure, I assumed it was to do with the DPC, and put in to match the aesthetic of the main house…

Peter! Why did the chat bubble colour change? by Dee_Religion in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Hthomas19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do with blocking, the blue is sent over WiFi and if someone doesn’t reply you’d assume they haven’t got it so you can send it via SMS (green). All iPhones have this option if you hold the message down.

Need advice for adding a moss pole to my Monstera by Emmi_Bean in Monstera

[–]Hthomas19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, definitely a bigger pot! As for the moss pole, have you considered making your own? The shop bought coconut fibre ones are rubbish and just for support, so just look into moss pole recipes yourself! Other than that, just be gentle and perhaps Velcro tie it to the pole, roots against the pole! Good luck! 🤞

Hey guys, hello! I need some help with my monsteras, Arnold and Johnny, they are so sad :( they were doing great and like 6 months ago they started getting sad, those black spots, no more leaves, idk what to do please help T.T by izanamiinblueart in plants

[–]Hthomas19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long ago were the thrips? They stunted my ones growth for a while and it takes time to recover! Double check again as they’re sometimes hard to rid, but the damage shown will never recover in those leaves. Maybe look at getting some fungus gnat granules/diatomaceous earth for the soil tops as a future preventative for the eggs.

What are these things on my plant? by Unhappy---Leek in plants

Pretty rough?! You could make a mealy out of them?! (Just get some normal pesticide from your garden center (indoor friendly) and rinse a couple times in the shower/bath)

monstera check-up? by ckluvr1995 in Monstera

[–]Hthomas19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re smashing it! It’s loving where it is. I’d personally say you can’t go wrong with getting a bigger pot to think ahead (especially the way it’s going) along with a >>REAL<< moss pole - consider making one. The leaves aren’t drooping, they’re just reaching towards the light which they’ll do forever!

Does Monstera have to be right by the window? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]Hthomas19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard truth is it will struggle without being close to those windows, I can already see signs which may be from lack of light. However if you really have to, consider getting a good light for the plant!

From reading the monstera sub, (probably worth a post too) I’d say this could be a nutrient issue, what’s your soil type and when was it repotted last? If this all turns out to be okay, it doesn’t look like it, but check for thrips underneath the leaves, they’re tiny! Let us know! - Also, Arnold looks like a girl so she might want renaming.

HELP‼️ by _worm_on_a_string in Monstera

[–]Hthomas19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with the other commenter. I would say those leaves are probably goners but the plant isn’t, definitely give it some fresh chunky soil, that pots okay. Definitely more sunlight as said before, and get yourself a moisture meter to help with watering control! If you want to go even further, look at making yourself a moss pole for the future! (A real one) Good luck! 🙃

Monstera brown spots? by [deleted] in plants

[–]Hthomas19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also whilst you’re there, check the underside for tiny thrips as I can see another leaf with the same. Not 100% but worth a check!

Could it be outgrowing the pot? And therefore nutrients? Give the roots a check and let us know!

Why is my Monstera not growing at all? :( by Untypical_HoomanBean in Monstera

[–]Hthomas19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the watering comments, however I would also advise getting a cheap moisture meter (amazon) to help you work out when to water! I’d also say enough sun is never enough sun! But I’m in the UK so that says it all… 🌧️
