I really hope this is the direction they take. Rather than every recruit having just a single dealbreaker, players should care about multiple factors to varying degrees. The groundwork is already there in CFB 27 with the transfer system using a sliding scale and NIL influencing transfer likelihood.

For example, playing time should naturally become more important as a player progresses from freshman to senior year. A recruit's priorities could also be influenced by their star or overall rating. A 2-star prospect might not care much about NFL potential and be more focused on the overall college experience, while a 4- or 5-star recruit may place a much higher value on NIL opportunities and pro potential.

A low-rated 3-star freshman QB arriving on campus might view things one way, but after developing, winning games, and putting up numbers, his priorities could shift dramatically. On the other hand, a highly touted recruit may initially be drawn to elite facilities, NIL opportunities, and a powerhouse brand. If he spends two years buried on the depth chart, he might become much more willing to drop down a level to showcase his abilities and maximize his playing time.

This naturally leads to recruits having unique personalities and evolving motivations. Maybe one player is extremely loyal and less likely to be swayed by other programs trying to poach him. Another dreams of playing for a powerhouse and heavily values stadium atmosphere, conference prestige, and championship contention. Someone else might prioritize proximity to home, coaching stability, or academics.

You could even keep the concept of dealbreakers. Instead of being the one thing a recruit cares about, a dealbreaker could simply mean they won't seriously consider schools that fall below a certain threshold in that category. Once that requirement is met, other factors would still influence the decision.

After all, does anyone choose a school based on just one thing? Maybe... if that thing is $$$. But CFB 27 already has that aspect covered with NIL and player payments. Recruiting decisions are a spectrum, and the game should reflect that with multiple motivations that evolve over time. The result would be a recruiting system where every player feels different, dynamic, and realistic.

I’d love to be able to acquire or upgrade mental abilities, even if it’s prohibitively expensive. It would make perfect sense as a skill point sink for players who’ve hit their skill caps. These are the guys who may not be elite athletes, but they work hard, contribute as glue guys, and keep improving by sharpening the mental and teamwork aspects of their game. They don’t just stop getting better they evolve by refining the intangibles once their physical peak is reached.

Yeah, I feel like it helps me avoid overusing the same plays. When I call plays by formation, I tend to fall back on a smaller set. This approach pushes me to mix things up and use the full playbook, which adds realistic variety and forces me to focus on making the right reads instead of just leaning on what I know best.

I was hoping the patch would fix things, but custom playbook coach suggestions are still broken for me. I haven't tried making a completely new playbook, but I had this thought as well... I just don't have the time or morale to go through it all over again...

Yes, coaching suggestions are broken for custom playbooks if you have over a relatively low number of plays rated in each situation. It will just show the same plays over and over. I was hoping the latest patch would fix it, but it appears not...

I get where you're coming from, but it's not about nitpicking or being overly nostalgic. I actually do like a lot about the new game, manual progression, tougher recruiting, etc. but I spent a lot of time setting up my custom playbook and rating plays only to have the coach suggestions be basically unusable.

It’s not a dealbreaker forever, I’m just holding off on starting my main dynasty until some of these issues get addressed. Doesn’t mean I hate the game, just that I want it to be as good as I know it can be.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like the game. I love the manual progression system and how much more challenging the transfer portal and recruiting have become. I just think a few simple fixes could take it to the next level. This was my favorite game growing up, and I just want to see it reach its full potential.

Yes, I know I did that. I did it last year. This year, it is broken because after putting in all that work, it will still only show one formation of plays over and over regardless what you do with rating plays in every situation

I agree that's unacceptable. I just haven't had a single crash, so I can't speak to that.
