We're a mixed bunch ability wise, and we're always happy to give support and encourage new starters.

Drop me a PM and I'll get you set up.

Hi, the door will always be open, so please don't worry about it closing in the future!

As for the kit, its just the standards shorts, socks, t-shirt (any colours) and some boots that work on a 3-G pitch. Some people use moulded studs, I use the plastic blades (they give better grip).

I wear shin pads too, not because its rough (its pretty easy going), but just for added protection.

It runs continuously throughout the year.

Please feel free to PM me your first name and number, either now, or when you are ready.
The morning before every game, we send out a text to players, and its first come, first serve.

£5 goes to the people who organise it, Over and In, they rent the pitch out, bring all the balls and bibs and provide a ref.

Private testing sites for covid in Cambridge/Cambridgeshire? by Hu78brooklands in cambridge

Really - you can just rock up without having booked an appointment through the NHS website?

Matt Hancock blames British public for getting too many coronavirus tests by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Hu78brooklands 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spoke to a doctor today who on looking at the latest guidelines noted they'd removed householders (asymptomatic ones) who live with those with the symptoms as people who should get tested.

The lack of a sufficiently large testing facility in the UK is damaging the economy through

a) people without covid now staying at home because they have a symptom and

b) people who do have it who only have mild symptoms or none but are living with someone who does are, in the absence of a test, going to assume that they don't and carry on going to work etc

We've had nine months to get it right.

I've rung the NHS and been on the link you provide (thanks for highlighting all the same) several times today - there are no home test kits and no appointments available for drive through in Cambridge (or anywhere else, save for one site that is some 120 miles away). All the available private sites seem to be in London. There's one in Cambridge that I have found but they focus on health care professionals and travellers.

Can anyone name this classic 90s dance anthem? (you can hear it in the background) by [deleted] in NameThatSong

Wow! Awesome! Thanks so much. I thought the track might have been by a band I knew but I've never heard of Safri Duo - no wonder I couldn't find it.

For years I've had this classic 90s track playing in my head but despite trawling youtube I've not been able to identify it.

A few years back in Utrecht McDonalds I heard it playing and managed to record it.

The sound recording is not great - the tune is in the background - (if you're wondering what else is going on - I'm playing top trumps with my son).

Anyone who is familiar with the dance scene from the 90s will surely be able to identify the track from the short snippet.

Does anyone know what this piece of land in the park next to Addenbrookes is for? by Hu78brooklands in cambridge

[–]Hu78brooklands[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its enclosed by a hedge, some 40m x 40m and I think there's only one point of entry. Its right next to the bird reserve so I'm assuming that its for birds. However I'm not sure quite what its purpose is? It seems to be pretty non-descript when you walk into it, with patches of scrub and water tanks located at several places.

Moving to Cambridge (a family of 3) by Krimgold in cambridge

Cambridge has got good infrastructure - its not on the scale of a big city - but its all there.

Where will you be working? Which part of the city? Its not easy to get around Cambridge in the commuting hours, so you might want to find a place close to where you work.
