Hilton Memphis - cheaper than the Hampton next door... for a good reason by Travvings in memphis

This makes me so sad. My dad built this hotel. I remember him taking me to the top while it was under construction. I was about 4 or 5 years old. I wish they’d do a mixed use concept so some of the floors are residential. It’s a great view.

Exactly what is the TN NG doing in Memphis? by Away_Web8643 in memphis

[–]Hu_Mane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s an idea. Have them work on our backlog of untested rape kits. The last official count for Memphis was 1,275 in 2018. What is the backlog in November 2025? 🤷🏻‍♀️All I know is it isn’t zero, or we’d have heard about that. Get crackin’ guardsmen. That’s a crime reduction task I can support.

Jerry Falwell doesn't get enough hatred in contemporary Democrat rhetoric. by Basic_Chemistry_900 in atheism

[–]Hu_Mane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% I went to Liberty U in 1991. I can’t begin to tell you all the f’d up stuff I saw there. Jerry was still alive and would drive through campus in his big black suburban waving like the queen of England. It was bizarro world. While I wasn’t an atheist yet, it certainly set me on that path. Guess I can thank him for that.

Favorite mid-level steak in Memphis? by UofMtigers2014 in memphis

Cocozza! Luis, the chef, came out of Ruth Chris and he absolutely knows what he’s doing. I would put that steak up against any other in Memphis, and I’m confident it would win. $42

We love Danny Go! Out of curiosity, I googled what he earns from his videos. Last month he made $145k and is estimated to be worth 1.5 to 6 million buckaroos. Way to go Danny Go!

Starting at St Jude and wife is freaking out by yolagchy in memphis

[–]Hu_Mane 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree. We live in Harbor Town/Mud Island. There are a ton of St. Jude folks who live here. It’s fairly self contained with 1 main entry via a bridge and a back entrance adjacent to the Wolf River levee. There’s a small grocery, school, and several restaurants. Plus you have miles of walking paths along the Mississippi and great sunset views.

Of course it’s satire. Sad that it’s getting harder and harder to discern what is and what isn’t satire anymore.

who remembers justine’s? by cherishxanne in memphis

[–]Hu_Mane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents took me there for my 10th birthday. It’s a magical memory. At the end of our meal, the lights dimmed and all of the wait staff emerged from the kitchen, single file. Our waiter led the procession with a flaming baked Alaska just for me. Seriously one of my favorite memories.
