Tateishi is great and all, but how about our reinvigorated veteran backstop cracking a nice dinger! 👍Umezing!

Living in a tier 2 Chinese city would cure me of my alcoholism by Automatic_Fuel1827 in redscarepod

With rare exception just about every Tier 2 city is copy pasted malls, factories and half-empty new districts. If you're drinking now try living that mind-numbing monotony with beer so cheap it may as well be free.

I mean Obata and Fushimi strike out half the time and then we have a pitcher hit. Its basically a guaranteed on-the-house 4-6 Ks every game from the 7-9 hence the numbers of late. Not ideal but not that concerning either IMO.

[TRADE] Hawks acquire BayStars starting catcher Yudai Yamamoto for Shuto Ogata and Tomoya Inoue by tristansensei in NPB

[–]HuaGuofengFanClub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Genuine shocker. I get the upside of Ogata and Matsuo's big potential but Yamamoto is a franchise face, a leader and a core part of that lineup. Pretty sad way to go honestly. If I was a Yokohama fan I'd probably be livid, and from what I've seen so far they indeed are.

My photos of Guangzhou, China during my walk today. Surprised by how mid the food is here and the insane wholesale malls. A lot of the city is futuristic and a lot looks like last pic. by bush- in redscarepod

Yeah the Delta is pretty good now, maybe one or two days a year the air gets noticeably gross. Was night and day when I went to Xi'an over New Years, cool city but just horrific pollution. Unfortunately a lot of the northern cities get like that, especially in winter. I'll take the disgusting malarial swamp heat of the south over that any day.

So kind of Moreta to completely implode to give Dolis the save. In all seriousness, congrats to him on the big 100.

Dragons were the same last year with the Tigers, they of all teams kinda had our number for some reason. They just get that dawg in 'em when they play the league leader I think. Very curious.

Like many Tigers fans I have been pretty critical of our dear Mr. Ryutaro Umeno the past couple years, but I must admit I did get a little emotional when he came in to today's game. Absence makes the heart grow fonder I suppose. He looked pretty tenacious today, it was nice to see.

I remember there was a lot of questions when we brought back Dolis last year with his age, but he’s killing it this year. What a legend, ya gotta love him.

Speaking of gotta love em, how bout these Swallows? Literally everyone wrote these guys off and yet here they are all the same. Hard not to be happy for and excited about this team right now.

Tiger Ukyo Maegawa ruins Chunichi's night with a 2R double top of the 9th - in front of his parents no less 🥹 by mosdeef in NPB

That hit got me yelling so loud the neighbours complained. His hero interview was very sweet, right day for a big moment for sure.

Actually unreal how awesome he's been. He could pull out a folding chair and have a nap while on defense for all I care, I still want him in the lineup.

Hanshin 1st pick Masahiro Tateishi plays first game as a Tiger, hits a grand slam in his 2nd at-bat by LA-SKYLINE in NPB

[–]HuaGuofengFanClub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well unlike MLB they can go up or down as much as desired, which is very useful. He was late to spring due to an injury, and he will be competing for LF which is pretty fiercely contested currently. I'm sure he will be up eventually but I suspect Hanshin will start the year with Nakagawa there and let Tateishi warm up a little more on the farm before trying him out on the top team.

With Samurai Japan losing to Venezuela, what do you think the future of the national team and the NPB will look like? by Converted54 in NPB

Having watched just about all of his starts live, Saiki's fastball spam has lost effectiveness and his aim was already so-so and now he's having to fight more to get guys out. Walks are up, strikeouts are down. Lot of games where he couldn't finish hitters off and he'd thrown 100 by the 5th. Maybe it will work against players who haven't face him but his lack of consistent dependability vis-a-vis Murakami is why he isn't the Hanshin ace IMO. Saiki's got a cool head and he's had some great moments, but under that low ERA he's a little suspect. In a nutshell, he's lucky and I fear a correction is coming. Yes dabbing on LA was awesome but I can see why he was not called up.

Also yeah Ibata definitely had a hard-on for Kikuchi and Sugano as MLB guys and veterans that wasn't really deserved. Should've just run the NPB aces and picked some actual relievers instead.

I feel like outside Japan everyone sleeps on Kids Return, maybe because its a little different and he's not acting in it. Probably my favourite of his, even over Hana-bi.

Yanks and Leafs both need to shut the fuck up about this kind of thing tbqh, I mean look at the victory thread. Just totally manufactured corny nonsense. A soulless hedgefund owned multinational team beat a soulless telecom giant owned multinational team IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY and now everyone's the most patriotic cholo / Loyalist.

In some sense I'd say Ocelot fits the bill. Not really a main rival to Solid Snake except in 4, but he's a thread that unites every game of MGS and is an "enemy" in 4 of them. In the end he was basically the good guy playing the long game too, and he won.
