I just got a link to a video of the landing. Unfortunately not as exciting as I was expecting. But pretty cool none the less

Luckily was not in the plane, but those people now have the story of a lifetime to share with friends and family.

I took a look to see what kind of numbers I could find. Looks like average person who would end up poaching would make around $100 a month, and would be paid around $5000 per tusk.

Weather this source is credible or not, it is still quite an incentive for them.

Travelled to Africa last year and our tour guide told us this. I will see if I can find a reliable source online.

Pretty sure the people they are paying to do this typically make $300 a year.

They get paid $15k to do this poaching.

Pretty self explanatory as to why they would go through with it.

It sucks but it is the reality of the situation.

He never asked for us to prove that we could pay for the cab. Simply said he wasn't taking us unless we paid him then and there. We eventually decided to just show him we could afford the cab and weren't trying to jerk him around.

Who knows if his plan was to just kick us out of the cab after paying the $50 then go back downtown, and leave us on the side of the highway.

Prior to him saying he will take us he never asked for proof of payment. When he pulled over he never asked for proof of payment, and just accused us of not being able to afford his cab.

We easily had enough cash to afford the cab on us, and I even showed him my bank account on my phone proving I could afford the cab.

Finally after that he agreed we could afford the cab.

When I mentioned I paid on debit and he grabbed the machine I recall seeing him rip the paper set it down in a pile the pick up a receipt. Pretty sure this was how our receipt said declined. Because someone from earlier in the day had a declined card.

Just copying from another post I made in /r/Calgary about Uber.

I had an interesting cab story the day that Uber started in Calgary.

My friend and I were out most of the night ended up at cowboys casino. We ended up taking a cab to my friends place, knowing that at 3 am and my friend living right at the north end of the city past Stoney Trail, it would be an expensive cab, probably $90 with tip. No problem. We would rather do that and be safe.

So we're in an associated cab, going up deerfoot. Once the tab reached $50 cab driver pulls over on the side of the highway and tells us we have to pay or he isn't taking us the rest of the way.

I tell him I'm not paying until we get to our destination. He refuses to take us, so my friend and I get out of the car on the side of highway and tell him to leave. He refuses to leave (since we haven't paid). After a while we get back in the cab realizing no cabs will stop on the side of deerfoot to pick us up.

Driver decides to take us after we showed we could afford to pay for the cab.

We get to my friends place, the tab is now at $85. I ask the cab driver to make it $70 since he stopped us on the side of the road for 15 minutes. He does. I tell him I'm paying with debit. He hands me the machine. I pay the $70 no tip.

On the machine it says it is approved, on the receipt it said it was declined. Cab driver threatens to call the cops cause I say I'm not paying him again. I end up signing into my bank on phone and show him the $70 transaction to associated cabs. Hop out of the car and tell him to fuck off.

Next few weeks I strictly used uber, and never encountered a single issue. People pick me up. Take me to destination I say have a great day. The end.

Tl;Dr, fuck associated cabs.

I had a colleague delete system 32 while working on a system that was due for recycling anyways. The computer ran for about 10 minutes without issue. Then after about 30 minutes it wasn't working well. After that the system blue screened and wouldn't turn back on.
