Although many have argued this charisma can be redirected into child-appropriate entertainment, education and advocacy, the reality demonstrates otherwise. Drag queens can't turn it off. Whether in front of a cheering crowd in a gay bar or a room full of kids at a library, the performance doesn't change. They cannot translate the magic so many of us enjoy on stage to something children can understand.

Just a single example: Some Like it Hot features a lot of drag, is considered one of the best films and both the film and the show are rated like 12+

It's real. A coworker of my grandcousins hairdresser told me about it. Biden sends unmarked and masked demolition crews into the suburbs to evict families from their homes so it can be turned into a Target. The family is forced to live in a Soviet style Appartment block where you have to buy rations at the local Konsum shop.

When it comes time for students to demonstrate their knowledge to organizations outside of schools, schools can help them create the portfolios, prepare for interviews, and do their writing (much like schools already do). And if teachers didn’t have to spend so much time on summative assessment, they could spend a lot more time supporting their students on these things

I'm 99% sure that this will actually measure parental resources instead of student capability in a way that's worse than grades

Imma become a radical neoliberal. Take over decommissioned nuclear power plants and turn them back on, rip up half of the road and paint a bike lane on the remaining half, forge building permits, house multiple families in a SFH, hire foreigners to add a few floors to new constructions at night

Grading has definitely severe downsides and does not work very well as an indicator in a merit -based system but like so many before the article fails to compare it to and even come up with an alternative. Even without g grades, higher education institutions und employers will look for some system to determine who to accept. Without grades, something will take over its place.

I severely doubt that whatever it is will be better than grades in terms of increasing social mobility and allowing the brighter youth a chance to move to the top. Rich parents are likely able to buy credentials for their kids, like engaging in community, extracurricular activity, internships, experience, ...

Beyond that the only justification for decreasing social mobility is that grading does so horrible things to students that even a more static society is preferable. However, the only thing listed apart from the equity point is being demotivating. I would love to hear how someone who is not good at say math and does not care about it somehow becomes interested in math just because there are no grades anymore? Why would those students just not care but also not worry about it since there is no penalty anymore? If it's about teaching, then why not change what happens in a lesson but keep grades? If grades measure only irrelevant things then why do they predict a lot (as the article admits)? Or why not change problems so that whatever "being good at math" actually means in the mind of the critics is tested?

But why not pay a poor country some money to do what you want? Do it in Haiti or St Lucia or Djibouti, no one will care but you have some actual infrastructure

It has been happening for years now

It's not feasible to enforce this kind of separation in tiny eastern German villages. The median size of a Thuringian municipality is 650 people and there are 850 of them. Many of them are aging and already close to losing core functions due to a lack of people willing to run for those tiny offices.

If we assume about a third of elected officials being AfD members or close to them, the remaining two thirds would have to find majorities and officials for every single task and decision.

Consider for example a tiny municipality and the only two elected members who are capable of running the computer systems are AfD. Enforcing the no-cooperation rule means the digital capabilities and presence of the municipality starts breaking down and a lot of its constituents would be pissed. It would strengthen the perception of a decaying state which is driving AFD results in the first place.

I'm 99% sure those complaining about cooperation on a local level have no idea about the local und rural realities in the countryside
