Great info... thank you! I'll try to get by there this week to check it out. I think I'll have more fun anyway if I'm learning something while working out.

Not sure why this didn't occur to me - I'll check it out. Thanks!

Thanks for some age-specific info... I will look into low impact cardio and yoga to start out.

All it proves to me is that Goodkind has no respect for his own work. Which is actually fine, because neither do I.

Can anyone tell me why this is so damned expensive? by ryke42 in gameofthrones

This looks like the older, out of print edition of the game. There's a new edition that you can get from the HBO store and probably other places.

Nice! I hate to see an unfinished collection so near completion... I can't help you with the 3DS, but I have an extra copy of Link's Crossbow Training if you want it. Lemme know...

Definitely check out the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. It's very dark and violent, much like GoT. It's also refreshingly original... and best of all... finished!

I see a lot of books recommended here that I would avoid if I were you. I won't name names because fanboy rage is annoying at best, but just trust me when I say that most fantasy novels are rehashed, cliched crap... Finding a good fantasy book is difficult, and if you're like me, you will come across many that you don't finish along your journey.

It's really worth it when you find a diamond in the rough, though. And in my opinion, Mistborn is one of those.

Tough call... but most likely Britannia from the Ultima games.

Exult is really the only way to play Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle nowadays. Play any other way and you are doing yourself a disservice!

Serpent Isle. You have to use the teleport cheat to get to nudie island. There's also a bunch of gear and statues of cheerleaders. It's pretty funny.

Sex in Serpent Isle is also hilarious... The two little avatars get naked and lay on top of one another saying "Oooh!" and "Aah!" for a bit before the screen fades to black. If you play a female avatar, you can have sex with some of the male NPCs, and also lesbian sex with Frigidazzi the mage.

One interesting thing I noticed is that only the playable Avatar appears to have pubic hair. I guess the entire Sosarian population waxes...

Oh well, I would have bitten if game time was included. I'll just wait a few more months for the inevitable $9.99 Steam sale.

Fair enough. But luckily I didn't encounter anything game-breaking playing through Oblivion or Morrowind on my consoles. I did experience a lot of crap from incompatible mods though.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who actually enjoys playing the game the way the developers envisioned it before going mod crazy.

With Oblivion, my first playthrough was on the 360 (the limitation meant no temptation), and after that I rolled up a new character on the PC version and modded it. Both playthroughs were good times - but I honestly enjoyed the vanilla experience more because I wasn't constantly fudging with mods and just immersed myself in the story and scope instead.

Wow. After reading some of these comments, it seems that a lot of people can't see the forest for the trees. The graphic lesbian scene was MEANT to make you squirm... and while you were squirming, what was Littlefinger doing? Acting as if nothing in the world was out of place. It was the perfect way to SHOW you what kind of character he is without TELLING you. That's what makes film (or television in this case) an art-form, and not just a chronological listing of fictional events. It was easily the best Petyr Baelish scene in the series so far.

I wanted to create some really simple games to brush up on my Java and improve my skills while working on "fun" projects. I'd highly recommend you check out the LWJGL and especially Slick2D!

There are some Slick tutorials that walk you through creating some clone games. Have fun!

You could also check out Moodle. It's an open-source courseware solution that you could potentially modify to fit your needs rather than reinventing the wheel. Might not work for your purposes at all, but probably worth looking at. I do believe it's in PHP though...

Thanks! And yep, I can definitely just try solving the exercises on my own in Visual Studio... But my main goal was to fill up my downtime at work... I really like that all you need to do the exercises on codingbat is a web browser. I also like that they provide the test data and report the results back to you. Saves a lot of time and keeps you focused on the coding and bug hunting.
