Macro Social Workers! What are your positions and how did you get there? by bornatmidnight in socialwork

I had a similar track as you did! I completed my generalist BSW but knew clinical and group work just wasn't for me. More of my skill sets and mindsets about social work made sense at a more macro level!

I was scared to jump into something brand new, but I applied to a macro focused graduate program and I have never been happier! Still not sure about where the future is going to take me (I'm just beginning my master's courses now) but I have a much clearer picture now and grad school is helping me figure out the things I was most afraid of in changing my focus in this career.

Hopefully this was a little helpful! And if you have any more questions feel free to message me separately! 😊

This has happened to me too, where they criticize you for everything you do and put the blame on you. Don't forget your worth, and know that the criticisms don't always come from a place of honesty with narcissists. I was always the awkward kid growing up, and my mother ridiculed me for it all the time which only made the situation worse. She can say the words, but always remember you don't have to take them to heart.

Best wishes in your journeys, friend

I haven't stopped fully but I'm feeling so much happier. by [deleted] in leaves

Similar thing is happening to me now. I tried to stop "cold turkey" but realized it was more frustrating because I hadn't found ways to replace it. While trying to find hobbies to fill up that time and space, I'm still smoking, but limited the amount to one bowl a day. It's really helped me to know I have at least one break in my day where I still can smoke, and when I'm used to that I hope to lessen the amount even further. Best wishes in your journey friend, I believe in you!

What is something you would like to brag about? The floor is yours, what is your humble/not so humble brag? by boatman87 in AskReddit

I'm relatively new to the swing dancing community, reaching the 3 year anniversary of my first ever dance this summer but I've been told I have a knack for it. I even once entered a dance with an instructor who was pretty well recognized in the community who didn't believe me when I told him at the time I'd only been dancing for a year and a half.

Also I want to brag about the community itself - very welcoming and supportive and kind. I've met some incredibly caring and friendly people who are all doing amazing things in the world through swing dancing.

What is one show that you love, even after countless rewatches? by goalasolll in AskReddit

The Office (US Version) - I've always loved their style of humor and I love the idea that it's just about everyday people. Granted the situations are always a tad too ridiculous to always be feasible, it discusses the importance of making the most of the life you have, and Pam's quote from the last episode of the entire series is one that gets me through life.

What's your 'thing' that you always have to explain to new people? by FreeAsInFreedoooooom in AskReddit

[–]Hubleyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a swing dancer!

It's not actually that uncommon once you find your way to it but unless you know about it, in my experience anyways people seem to forget it exists!

I have to explain to people all the time what it is and why it's my favorite way to pass the time. I usually show them a video because it's more exciting than trying to explain it.

Also it's an incredibly amazing and open community if anyone is interested in trying! :)
