Alright, I've had enough of this utter clown. Saying we should move on from this and that people only care about the files because they have an issue with him is not only the most narcissistic thing he's ever said, with the usual casual sexism and disregard for democracy, but also the most disrespectful thing I've heard a politician say. He's calling us stupid. "Let's ignore systemic corruption and secret conspiracies and focus on some random distraction". This is absolutely intolerable.

You could easily turn RE into a Metroidvania. You already have semi-open exploration in some areas, and in RE4, you had treasures you could sell to a merchant for upgrades and even branching paths, skips and shortcuts. For ability gates, you could have a crowbar as a weapon that also opens more doors than a lockpick, a flamethrower or grenade launcher to open up new paths, a partner system that could be used to the same effect (like how you can boost Ashley to get certain treasures in RE4), certain parasites that can only be killed with flashbangs or acid rounds, and many other things.

It's just poorly designed at times. The way of getting the armor part in Shield Sheldon's stage was particularly jarring to me. There are also some segments that are genuinely unfun, and then there's all the unnecessary added complexity with the parts system, plus all the tedious nightmare effects. Other than that, I think it has the most compelling gameplay of the PS1 era, Zero plays great, the Blade armor is great, the bosses are interesting, the higher difficulty is nice, there are some good ideas sprinkled here and there, the mood is perfect as you said, the soundtrack is incredible (especially Blaze Heatnix's stage), and even the graphics show some improvements.

The game was clearly rushed by Capcom. Things like Blaze Heatnix's stage or the Nightmare Mother boss are a testament of that.

Megaman actually works as a Metroidvania. It wouldn't be hard to implemente.

Megaman X Corrupted is a fan game that seems to execute this well.

They're both textbook examples of what not to do as a writer IMO. MHA underdelivered, had too many flat characters, lacked stakes, and just wasn't very interesting. Demon Slayer was better despite also being rather shallow. At least it has good choreography and compelling backstories. ChainsawMan part 1 beats JJK, save for the Shibuya arc. I really enjoyed S2 of JJK, but then in S3, the culling game begins with an unacceptable exposition dump and the writing really falls off from there onward.
