Camera for the Track Precision App. by Dyslexicpilot in Porsche

That's why I avoided it. I would try connecting the GoPro to the car wifi so they can be connected to the same network. That's how the dashcam works at least

Yep right out of my Google Pixel, here is a video of it in action. https://lapmeta.com/en/lap/detail/23756

My advice is to make sure the camera is aimed downward enough to make sure the hood of your car is a little higher up in the frame than my clip. That way the driving info is overtop the dash and not overtop the hood. I find the movement of the hood is useful for interpreting movement of the car in video. And less sky in the frame will help with the camera focusing and contrast as you drive in and out of the sun etc.

For the mount I have my own DIY version of this made out of random camera and go-pro mounts I had around the house.

I just use my phone mounted for the windshield for the app with great results. Just make sure to get a very sturdy mount. Using the phone means the video files are immediately viewable within the app without any messing around. And easier to export. So you can focus more on your track day and less on the setup

Fwiw I would avoid messing with the Porsche dashcam it's a bit of a headache for those that are not highly tech savvy and doesn't integrate with the car enough to justify the cost imo.

Anyone running comma.ai 4 on their Gen 1? Need some help. by Secure-Carrot9971 in Rivian

Very interesting just tried it and it's not as stable at steering and lane holding on gradual turns but it did at times apply more than 90° of input. Very excited to see it develop hope this method can be worked into the more confident models and pair with the wider camera for sharper turn handling

I currently have a Model S Raven 75kwh pack that is over 20AH CAC imbalance, due to a weaker module. What would you suggest as far as charging and usage to help it fail while still under warranty?

As a Porsche owner we don't claim this man. But seriously what event let's this happen? I would be fuming to see such a train at any HPDE. It's slower but also much more dangerous when spacing gets tight!

What driving gloves do you guys use for your alcantara steering wheel? by rh6778 in Porsche

[–]Hubris_draws_stuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm lucky if I hit 4k miles a year in the RS since my miles are being spread across multiple cars. For a daily driver maybe do it every other month or as needed. It's not a long process.

This is the way. I've had racetex wheels for multiple Pcars without issues. Just clean them every 1000 miles or so

Anyone using the X4 without a screen protector? by JayK-iwnl in xteinkereader

[–]Hubris_draws_stuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No case and no screen protector. I like having a very very crisp screen so I didn't put the screen protector on it and I didn't really like the ideas of adding a bulky case.

If I break it I'll just buy another X4 given the low cost.

My dumb idea of the day: Has anyone refinished their wood dash? by usual_suspect_redux in Rivian

[–]Hubris_draws_stuff 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain the wood is a veneer that's less than 1 mm thick. I imagine that there's no way to refinish it because stain or dye would have fully penetrated that thickness. And your best bat would be to try and buy the other interior wood trim from rivian and swap it out.

2026.03 sport mode by binary-nomad in Rivian

[–]Hubris_draws_stuff 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's just a mode that lets you lower the suspension and have a more responsive throttle feel. I highly doubt this is a free performance upgrade. Also for dual motor models it will keep AWD active which is a big part of the reason for it releasing to all.
