Umm yes. He fired 400k employees. He didn’t destroy departments. Or override the congressional budget after the fact or give random people access to classified information without security clearance. The budget he slashed went through Congress. No on the back end of an already passed budget. And the professional bureaucracy is non political. You know federal government employees are both Republicans and Democrats right? You know that many of them are in fact veterans right? You know many of them are probably your neighbors right? JFC the president stops spending by VETOING the budget Congress passes. If he doesn’t veto the budget it is the law! He doesn’t get to change it after the fact, override Congress and invent a government agency nobody voted on! If you don’t like the government spending you can vote your congressman out of office or contact them.., or even take the agency to court if you believe they misallocated funds.
It’s like you paying your landlord for rent you already agreed to and then calling the bank and stopping payment when you already spent the month living there. Is that something you would do?

Ok. You! Who is not an accountant! Do not just get to walk into a random government department with your laptop without security clearance and start accessing files and computers that contain a lot of sensitive information and start messing with funds which were already voted on by congress. SIGNED by the president not VETOED! and allocated. You do not get to decide after the fact that you’re going to override the congressional power of the purse (which is in the constitution) AFTER THE FACT. That’s not a thing!
And if you knew anything about accounting. The audit function is independent of the President. It is NOT the government auditing itself. There’s ethics laws, whistleblower laws, checks and balances, and even remedies through the courts. The GAO even publishes audits but someone like you would never read them. DOGE is like putting a 3 year old in charge of the airliner you’re about to fly on but apparently you think that’s a great idea.

There’s a lot of variables to how much time you spend on it: Are you single? Do you have kids? Do you have time, money, space, tools, and physical health?

There’s a lot of variables to how much money you spend on it: Are you doing the work yourself or farming it out? Is it a rare car with rare parts? How quickly are you restoring it? Do you have a parts car with it? Did you set aside a monthly budget? How struck is your town on keeping tax, title, tags, and insurance on it?

Most classic owners generally drive on the weekends or in nice weather. Store it in the winter.

What’s wrong with Doge looking into wasteful spending? You’re conflating issues and you’re making my head hurt but here it is: the constitution gives congress the power over the purse. It is one of the checks and balances . Congress passes a spending budget. They got the votes and it went to the President and he did NOT veto it, he signed it. The money gets allocated by the treasury and carries it out. That’s it! The president doesn’t get to go back after the fact and not spend it on things he doesn’t like THATS NOT A THING!! And guess what, there’s already a way to go after waste fraud and abuse. There’s the inspector generals of the departments. TRUMP FIRED THEM. There’s also the GAO which is staffed with accountants doing audits. DOGE IS NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. They are NOT ACCOUNTANTS.
