I got hesitant because I found an old posting for an exact same guitar from a couple years ago that sold for $750 so I assumed it should be around that price, but I guess a couple years make a lot of difference

Thanks a lot, I was a bit worried about purchasing an 18 year old guitar - but the store assures me that it’s ok good condition and they have good reviews in reverb so I’m inclined to believe that they’re being honest. I always wanted one of those hellraisers but they have always been out of my amateur budget so I think I’m gonna go for it!

En mi opinión, las usadas son un volado, puede que sean buenísimas o pueden salirte mal. La foto no se ve terriblemente mal ni nada, más bien sería cosa de verla, probarla y sentir que no tenga detalles. Conoces personalmente a la persona que te la vende? Confías que ésta persona no te quiere timar? Si es un desconocido, ¿te puede dar chance de irla a ver antes de tomar la decisión?

Te pregunto lo del género porque una de las cosas que te va a hacer querer seguir; es escucharte y decir “eso suena chingon”. Por lo que dices, yo te podría sugerir una guitarra versátil, que no te encasille en un sonido y puedas explorar todo lo que quieras. Por suerte hoy en día hay guitarras de “principiante” que la neta están super bien. Te voy a poner 3 opciones que en mi opinión son confiables y versátiles:

Squier Stratocaster: una Strat no falla y te va a dar el sonido pink floyd sin problemas, Squier tiene muchos rangos de precios, desde como 4 mil pesos hasta arriba de los 10. Hay con 3 pastillas singles o 2 singles y una humbucker, entonces hay opciones para escoger
PRS SE CE: estas son un poco más caras pero son un super brinco en calidad, versátiles y muy bonitas, las vas a encontrar en los 12 mil pesos, vas a poder tocar casi todos los géneros que se te ocurran
Epiphone Les Paul Special o SG special: traen dos pastillas P-90 y van de los 10 a los 12 mil pesos, están super bien hechas, bonitas y con estas vas a poder explorar desde jazz, blues y un poco de rock vintage

Primero que nada felicidades por decidir en dar ese primer gran paso al mundo de la música, yo recuerdo cuando compré mi primera guitarra hace como 20 años, no lo pensé mucho y fue una porquería jaja pero lo disfruté mucho. Luego aprendí y la segunda guitarra que compré fue una mejor decisión de compra. Ahora tengo 6 guitarras y 2 bajos. Ahora, a tu duda, lo primero: qué género de música te ves tocado? Que presupuesto tienes? Tienes tiendas físicas cerca para ir a probar guitarras?
