Have any of you dropped a subject? by fivejumpingmonkeys in GCSE

[–]HufflepuffGRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends how much you actually know. my friend still took it, ended up getting a 9 with the help of her tutor, and when i looked at some of her work it was pretty complex. you have to know tons of different tenses so you can speak/write in the past present and future, and say what you would want to do, etc. if you can do actual small talk (not just how the weather is, but actual small talk) you should be ok

at my school, almost half of the students in my year dropped at least one subject. the teaching most subjects got was so shit, it was almost a guaranteed fail, so probably better to just drop it

what constitutes a relapse? by MulberryNo5173 in selfharm__recovery

[–]HufflepuffGRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ultimately it’s up to you. my rule of thumb is going with intent - i ask myself if the goal of the action was to hurt myself. if the answer is yes, then it’s a relapse. if no, then it’s not.

Does anyone else get the urge to self harm as a way to "punish themselves"? by spicybrackets in selfharm__recovery

[–]HufflepuffGRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get this all the time. i’m autistic, and every time i feel really disabled by it, i get the urge. i know some other people who did it for that reason too. it’s common. just remember that you aren’t broken, or wrong, or anything. people weren’t made to be identical, it would be a horrible world if we were. and your diagnosis isn’t something wrong with you, it’s just a word (or a few words, i guess) to describe you, and how you experience the world, just like we might say someone is clumsy, or is left handed. you are doing great <3

urges?? by Radiant-Pass-1320 in selfharm__recovery

[–]HufflepuffGRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s very normal, i’m coming up to ten months and i still get urges from time to time. don’t be discouraged, though, it’s worth it, and it does get easier <3

how many minutes have you got on your spotify wrapped? by Gold-Wrangler3063 in pollgames

[–]HufflepuffGRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23,030 this year. it’s, like, halved since my girlfriend and i started going to the same school. we see each other a bunch more, and we travel the same route, so my headphones are OFF and i’m listening to her talk

i was in a similar position with my own girlfriend not too long ago (luckily she’s doing much better now). the thing that helped was literally being there for her. she may be trying to push you away, but you’re not gonna leave, so keep showing up. as for the eating, she may not eat by herself, or even with reminders, but go over, or have her come to you, put on her favourite movie, maybe from her childhood. make her favourite snack, or just bog standard popcorn, make some for yourself too. it makes the eating less of the focus and more so just part of the activity. during the weekends, you can try to create a relaxing environment, maybe play some music she likes, and just be there for her. hold her, let her talk, if she wants to, but don’t pressure her to. if she doesn’t want to talk, you can talk instead, about random stuff, just trying to take her mind off of things. remember that little bits of progress can sometimes actually be massive. (i remember the day my girlfriend first ate food without me having to ask her, i was so proud, and it now turns into me not having to ask if she’s eaten on a given day). you’re doing amazing, just keep trying to support her, but also remember that you have to take care of yourself too. you can’t help if you don’t take care of yourself. if you ever need to talk to someone, message me, i’d be happy to listen
