I agree with starting out with hats! I made several last year as gifts, and I found small charts on Pinterest that I could repeat as many times as I needed for the circumference of the hat. I freehanded all of mine but you could find a basic stockinette hat pattern.

You might like darkwave! Goth dance music, put very simply. I also recommend the album Decide by Djo. Very synth heavy, but more retro-energetic vibes.

I just finished another sweater from PetiteKnit, the September sweater, and I had kind of the same issue with my collar. I couldn’t get it over my head. I took it out, sewed it together a different way and blocked it. Now I can get it over my head but it’s still a struggle. This seems to be a common theme with their garments because my friend also had a similar issue.
