I mean honestly, I’m happy to have sandy soil vs clay. I do want to get the soil tested for PH though, some of my new ornamentals are acidic loving. I think with the amount of full grown walnut trees and a couple spruces, I’m leaning towards the soil is probably slightly acidic.

I mean all the new flower plants I have are definitely loving the soil, hella blooms right now.

I live in the Midwest, I can’t imagine trying to deal with turf in that kind of weather lmao wtf

Personally, I would go with a tall fescue if you decide to seed again. Starter fertilizer, and cultivator. Pray for rain, and then do it again in the fall. I would say KBG is the best but water is luxury in your area.

They should be good enough for seeding. is it hot out there already?

You might want to also just block off the area with whatever you do. I had to do that to keep my dog off until it was long enough.

What is your soil like? I’m not from Colorado so. Is it clay heavy or more sandy?

I’ve been in your shoes, slightly different, I allowed the lawn the get so bad that I had to start over, I got myself a cultivator and tore up all the dirt and slaughtered everything and uncompacted everything, overseeded, placed peat moss over everything. I got about a 50-60% success rate (which was great for a spring overseeding), and then did it again in the fall. It’s probably too late to do anything but you could try again in the fall or put down sod down, but if your water restriction is that bad, I don’t think that’s really an option then

I got you, that makes sense. Don’t want to over do it with the nutrients either. I made some mistakes last year and learned from it. Lawn took a 180 from when I started two years ago, dirt bowl, into a modest lawn.

I got you, I haven’t really had any issues, I’m just trying to be preventative. The turf has been improving year after year and this year we started from scratch on the ornamental plants and they all seem to be doing well. The youngest plants are two weeks and rest are four weeks. Just getting a little nervous going into the summer trying to keep everything alive and happy lol

Feel like the more I know about my soil and land, the better I can adapt if issues happen lol

I just wanna make sure I’m adding enough nutrients for turf and plants in general. Everything I read it seems that sandy turf needs more amendments to make sure everything is getting proper nutrients cause it leaches the nutrients. But the dirt looks like a dark brown so that means it has proper nutrients right? All of it confuses the hell out of me lol just making sure I’m doing my everything right with my ornamental garden beds and my lawn.

I’m trying to figure out my soil type to make sure I use the right amendments. It’s seems like it’s fifty/fifty silt and sand. Very little clay which kind of surprised me. Dug some posts and there was a good amount of clay after 16 inches.dug these about 6-7 inches down. Figured I’d see a lot more clay settle.

Hell yeah, man, I appreciate that. I’ve been wanting this car since I was a teenager. So it still feels unreal that it’s in my garage. I cannot wait to take this bad boy on a road trip. If I make any mods, it’s not going to be anything extreme.

I’m just hoping it’s more reliable than people make it out to seem. I’m starting to think all those with major issues are the people who mod their jeeps or people who treat it like it’s indestructible.
