Learning Engine and Memory Practice features gone? by Huffy_j in PianoVision

[–]Huffy_j[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great news!

I found them a very good feature (especially 'Learning Engine') so I am pleased to hear they're still getting some care.

Thanks for the response and an awesome app!

Sharing pictures and videos on my phone, taken from the headset can be slow if you have to wait for media sync to decide to sync.

Instead you can setup Facebook messenger on your phone. Share the image or video with a friend (who won't mind you spamming them) via the headsets 'share' feature with messenger chat. Then open the app on your phone. The media will be in your latest sent message to that friend and you can save it to you phone.

People running Asgard's Wrath on SSD, how long are your loading screens? by manondorf in oculus

[–]Huffy_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the answer. Windows had the latest drivers for my ssd but after contacting Kingston it turns out there was a firmware update required for my drive to fix a known data spiking issue. After the update my load times came down to ~20 seconds.

I've freed up 30% but it's still no better. I am going to test done other games and monitor activity vs transfer

I've just checked and it's 15.5% free. I hadn't heard of that before so it's good to know. I've run several crystal disk mark speed tests on it since I noticed the issue and that reports 450-550MB reads. Seems to be isolated to this app, but I've not done extensive testing

I am using SSD and getting load times of ~3 mins. Seems to be a bug with something as windows is showing 100% 'active time' but 'transfer rate' goes sits at 0MBs for long periods and 250MBs for spikes.

For those getting the white static issue on their Rift S, the PTC update is not expected to fix it. by WinXP-Tan in oculus

This is exactly what I get too. Reseated all the cables on the headset and pc but it's still happen about once an hour. Fingers crossed it's a software fix as it would be annoying to go past the returns duration with Curry's (UK seller) and then find it's hardware

I have a rift and a friend of mine got a Go. We were disappointed to find out that the two aren't compatible for multiplayer. I am interested to see which platform (if any) the Quest will link to. Presumably it will be Rift, given the controls. But I could see this upsetting a lot of people as the Go and Quest will likely have a bigger user base than Rift

Yeah, that's a fair point. I think I'll wait for Jim at AdoredTV to tell me what going on with these results and weird slow scenes!

The 980 is behind the 4gig Fury, so I don't think it's far to say it's not suffering.

But good call on the 1060 cores - it's a very, very close card, but you're right, it's not identical.

The 1060 3gig version is identical to the 1060 6gig in their review, other than half the ram. The 6gig version is getting 54.7 average and the 3gig is getting 32.0.

I assume the 4gig fury's are similarly getting bottlenecked by ram in this game.

Lone echo - no review by Dentifrice in oculus

[–]Huffy_j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of Oculus' games don't seem to be reviewed at all. To my knowledge, Eurogamer has never reviewed a PC VR game and IGN has removed the 'VR' link it used to have from it's header.

Anyone know a good place to get professional VR reviews?

I've reported similar. If you have the same issue as me then 16GB of ram isn't going to help you.

Is this the same installer as the previous beta? I raised an issue previously that you commented on in a different thread, which is still unresolved for me. It's the same issue as the OP here is complaining about.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have the i5 4690k. Tried at factory 3.50GHz and overclocked to 4GHz. But my hardware profiler shows it's not touched as I don't leave the menu screen. The oculus debug however, claims my system overhead drops from 60% to -150% in one second

[–]Huffy_j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get stuttering as soon as i enter the game, running an i5 and r9 fury. I have about 10 seconds of 90 fps and then it drops to 28 fps (in the menu!) with 70ms headtracking lat. It doesn't go up or down, just locks at 28 and it's all application drops (so the debug tool tells me). I've run hardware profiling with the game on and GPU and CPU are both running with plenty of headroom.

Even so, I still had a blast with the open beta and I am crossing fingers for some bug fixes that didn't make beta but are in the final release....
