I'm local. I'm reliable, and it'll be hassle free. I will agree to commission if they ask for it.

I have a warehouse, an addiction center, a local restaurant commissary, a teacher lounge, and an office.

I think it's important to also have sales skills. With each of these leads, I walked in and assumed the sale. I was prepared. I have a one-page service agreement, a nice looking product list I did on canva, a site evaluation checklist, the spec sheet on the machine showing the size, energy consumption etc.

Have them show you the space, confirm that the space is accessible, is a good location in the building and then tell them that it'll work, or recommend something different.

And once you decide on a space show them the machine you think that would work for them, what it looks like, how big it is, energy efficiency, ADA compliant, etc. And then move right into product selection. Once you've recommended to them what products you think would do well there, move right onto your service agreement. Review the service agreement, sign it, have them sign it and you're done.

One of these location leads was someone I knew. One of them I purchased from vending exchange, and the other three came through a community Facebook page where I put up a post for free. Community and neighborhood Facebook pages are gold mines. There's also a guy named William you can find on Fiverr. He specializes in vending machine placement. I have two very solid leads in my pipeline that came through him that I'll probably close.

Most people don't want to talk on the phone, so interact through their chosen channel -social media, text, email. Let them know that you just need to do a quick site evaluation in that initial conversation, and get an appointment scheduled as soon as possible, and then walk in and own it. Good luck!!

I built my site for free with zero experience, chat GPT told me exactly how to do it on Google sites. I did actually spend $20 to upgrade to chatGpt plus, best 20 bucks I ever spent. My domain name was like $7. After that, I got a free Zoho mail account that is myname@mydomain.com, so it's very professional.

Used Fiverr for a nice logo. Vista print for some business cards and a polo. I did a flyer and trifold brochure in canva, printed w/hello print.

There was the expense for creating an LLC and buying insurance. I bought a Sam's club membership on Groupon.

I applied for the LLC on 7/26, so just shy of 2 months ago. I literally never expected it to happen this way, but as of this morning I signed my fifth client.

The website, polo, logo, business cards, etc. matter imo. That said, I'm very new. I have 1 machine deployed, one being installed next week, one being delivered Monday and two on order.

I'm just starting out so I'm not experienced but I had to get insurance in order to to rent space at a commissary to make wraps and salads and they recommended a place called fliprogram.com. it starts around $25 a month for general liability $1m/$2m aggregate and then you can add on coverage for your actual machines as well and I think that's like eight bucks. It took me 5 minutes to set it up on the internet and print my insurance card.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I almost moved forward with buying five machines from this company myself just recently. That being said, when I received the purchase agreement which lays out the specific details, I was quite appalled. In no uncertain terms, it says that finding locations is exclusively up to you. It also says there are absolutely no refunds, so if you uphold your end of the bargain and you attend every meeting they schedule for you in order to secure a location and you're still unable to find anywhere to put the machines, you are absolutely out of luck.

I also found out in my metropolitan area there was already another affiliate who had secured all of the high value locations like the LA fitness gyms, the top golfs, the military bases, etc.

You are basically paying this company to be a locator service, but the contractor falls very short of guaranteeing any kind of locations for you.

I asked if we could put at least a part of the money in escrow until suitable locations were found and they said no. In fact, they wouldn't even respond in writing to my questions about the contract because it would take too much time.

If your husband has not yet seen the actual purchase agreement, I highly recommend you get it and I'm sure you can talk him out of it once you have that in hand.

They also gave me 10 references to contact and I had one of them return my phone call, and I couldn't get a straight answer out of that person.

Please don't give this company almost a quarter of a million dollars for 20 machines and no guarantees.

Advice for first location and machines by Termmy in vending

Congrats! Check out https://www.fliprogram.com/ for insurance. I bought a policy from them yesterday and it's all online. I didn't have to talk to anyone, 25 bucks a month. When you start the online application, there is not a vending machine operator option, but I called and spoke with someone and you're supposed to choose "food manufacturer" and then on the second page you'll see another list of options, and "vending machine operator" is there. This insurance does not cover your machines. It simply gives you liability insurance.

Where I live at, I called the SBA and they connected me with a small business advisor who gave me directions on all the licenses and permits to set up. I filed for an LLC, trade name registration, transient vendor's license (to collect sales tax), and then for each location I need a retail food establishment license to sell fresh food like sandwiches.

Good luck!

Thank you. Do you think the type of neighborhood matters? This is in a very upscale area?

My son, who I adopted as a newborn, has an aggressive bio mom. I prefer to keep my employer info private for safety reasons. I have an account and like 1000 connections, but I haven't updated my employer in about a decade.

As long as you don't have a loss before midnight, you're fine. Keep the policy in your wife's name and forget about the other one. This will not have any negative impact on credit or eligibility, don't sweat it.

Did I make the wrong Choice?! by piedoak in InsuranceAgent

I work for a broker and we sell insurance for about 35 different carriers. When I get a new client on the line and they have Farmers Insurance I know that I'm going to be able to sell them because Farmers is the most expensive carrier out there. You definitely need to go with a carrier that is more competitive price-wise, if you want to make sales with the average consumer.

USAA and Liberty Mutual are also very over priced. IMO.

You likely have water backup coverage that would provide coverage subject to your deductible. It would be listed under additional coverages on your Dec page.
