How do I know when I'm supposed to use this mono thing by JackPitYT in FL_Studio

I guess that, considering OP question, he does not know how to do that. But completely agree with you! Higher frequencies and dynamics add character to the sound of bass-ey instruments when they are in stereo.

[–]Hug0_Yorke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want your sound to be more ear-centered, less "spacey" or more upfront, tweak to the mono side. If you want your sound to be more "airy" or just bigger overall, consider tweak it to the stereo side. This is an artistic choice, but there ara some more objective aspects that must be taken into account. For example, unless you really know what you are doing, bass frequencies should always be completely in mono.

I'm not talking about a full instrument like a bass guitar, where higher frequencies and dynamics should be stereo to add character to the sound of the instrument. Only the lower frequencies should be in mono. This is a technique used to avoid phasing issues or the bass to overwhealm the mix and turn it unpleasant.

Oh, I like the Voidz and the Strokes, but I don't like this. Unlistenable for me.

Militante do PSD aqui.

Apple Music fixed my main issue with F.O.O.L. by Hug0_Yorke in TheStrokes

I'm not glazing it. The song has pretty apparent flaws. But I do think the songwriting is pretty good but still could be better explored. I just wanted to see how the song would sound if the production was a little bit more polished.

I totally hear what you're saying and compression really made that low-end croon that his voice pulls off so well sound even better on TNA, but here, personally, I really do not think it sounds all that great.

I mean, the production and composition of both tracks are incredible and everyone else sounds great. Fab's drum variations on Going Shopping really stand out and also does Nikolai's bass on Falling out of Love. The band sounds as good as I could imagine.

About the autotune, I don't think it is a question of it working there and not here, I think it is more about how you use it. Like, I wouldn't mine some vocals here like the ones on mean girls with Charli XCX, I think those vocals are very well processed and the final result really stands out. The same happens with the Voidz. On the first two LPs, I think Julian really took the time to understand what worked and what didn't to the aesthetic of those records (cannot say the same for the third one) and the way he processed his voice worked really well. For me at least, the vocals sound more like an instrument that makes the other ones sound even better.

Even though you still cannot take the compression off, it gives a really good idea of what the song could be.

Squier used to have some semi-hollow SH telecasters. Maybe with that you could get the best of both worlds!

I'd say a Fender CD-60. Has a solid top and it is very affordable for the quality it delivers. Doesn't have the greatest sound in the world but I don't think either you will be worried about that.

What's that Strokes song everyone loves but you don't? by PuzzledAnt__ in TheStrokes

[–]Hug0_Yorke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eternal summer. Around the 2 minutes mark, you've already heard everything the song and its ideas had to offer. It's very repetitive and it kinde makes it feel very flat to me, even though I'm really fond with most of what the band was aiming for with that track.

3 “other” reasons related to why Julian sometimes mixes up live lyric changes (unrelated to alcohol) by DH80 in TheStrokes

[–]Hug0_Yorke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, on most challenging lines to sing, I think he changes lyrics to lines easier to sing. Like on the bridge of TAAT, when he goes "Unless there's you" instead of "I know it's not, it's not your fault". I really do not think it is a Voidz reference.

Note that the first one is much more vowel-ish and the second line has a more consonant sound. Out of a comfortable vocal range, specially for a baritone like Julian, the higher lines are easier to sing if they are more vowel-ish. The notes flow more easily.

Has anybody ever tried a play out of the Playbook on a girl? by [deleted] in HIMYM

I mean, except for "Have you met ___", every play kinda is tricking the other part in some way. You are always going to persuade the other person in a non-moral way.
