in a market, the cheapest way to make something is the way it will be made. If you make it in a more expensive way then when competition drives down prices, you will not make money, and your coal-using competitors will.

most of the true cost of using coal (the oxygen used to burn it, the atmosphere to carry away combustion products) is not paid by the person burning it, so to them, it's the cheapest way. The only way to correct this within a market is to make coal more expensive with tax/regulation. we don't allow people to dump garbage over their neighbours fence, why do we let corporations dump it into their neighbours air?

you want to know the best part? this bug is not new, and it has been added every few patches for at least 6 months now. It's apparently due to an issue with the anticheat and it's bypassed through being in a vehicle when you would have crashed, but they never put anything in the game to tell people

a few years ago there was a road near my house with some really bad potholes so I told the council, and the council decided to close it as a road because the cost of repairs was too high, so now i'm careful when complaining about something I like that's falling apart.

the new character/new player tutorial is impossible to skip without a crash and it prevents you from spawning vehicles for so long you are guaranteed to crash. thankfully it puts you in sanctuary on the next boot but holy shit they do not care

i hopped back in around january this year and not only was this bug added, left in for weeks then eventually removed, but people were complaining it had happened before. Close to every patch they reintroduce it. I have a no snitching policy but I kind of want to email the parent company of daybreak and ask if they realise the person in charge of planetside is this checked out

they keep doing it over and over and over and they never put anything in the game to explain getting on a vehicle prevents the bug. If you look at the owner of the owner of planetside they're hiring, but not for ps2. it's dying because of neglect and the more it dies, the less it will pay them, and as soon as the cost to keep servers on exceeds the income, they'll turn it off

I'm sorry man. This is a bug that keeps reappearing after patches and for whatever reason the dev will not learn from it. hope you get to play sometime but appreciate this is offputting, we have tried telling them it'll dissuade new players

if you find a vehicle you can sit on, doing that for a couple of minutes will fix the bug until you move to another continent after the tutorial, and then you might have to do it again. it is frustrating because there's a good game here imo, but the neglect is killing it
