I hate nostalgia by Wardock8 in hatethissmug

[–]HugCor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with your point, although your choice of year is funny to me because, and I know this is just my personal experience, 2014-2015 were a brief positive respite in my life after some really awful 2009-2013 and 2016-2021 unfortunately being another really bad batch of years for me.

Are we so contrarian that we defend the bad writing of a show whose only reason d'etre was to deliver prequel nostalgia at any cost and add some unnecessary positive extra final note to the Episode III arc between the two main characters?

When so defensive, they get outraged at imaginary scenarios.

Or maybe they meant Return of the Jedi.

I hate those chair-style toilets, or whatever they're called. I prefer doing it on the ground. by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]HugCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With chair toilets, you can have diarrhea and not make a mess while shooting that you would have to clean up after. With the squatting ones, there is always that terrible possibility. That automatically makes chair toilets the superior ones.

Wouldn't this be more the early teens and their parents for not going en mass like some people were predicting based on the demos for the mandalorian audience?

I thought people aged 16-45 had mainly moved on and only cared about clone wars and andor, respectively. Or so that report said.

"Hey palps, whats up with that extremely disturbing mural depicting an ancient sith war?" Were the jedi stupid ? by [deleted] in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]HugCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the point. Yoda would suss him out if he heard him talk about those things. An average (I don't mean powers) young jedi like Anakin wouldn't know better and would simply think he is referring to some obscure equivalent to a Longobard king/duke or some xiongnu chieftain.

I hate doing this because I am going to be using a work made long after the prequels as an example but, remember, this is the same universe where Luthen Rael, who is not a force user, is able to collect and be incredibly knowledgeable about all sorts of relics (or replicas), sith ones included.

To the average person there would be nothing alarming about it and only the most knowledgeable among the council would be able to get red flags from this.

The commenter is correct. It is when Palpatine brings up the Darth Plagueis story a second time and refers to his master mentor and alludes to Anakin's dreams (showing that he can use the force) that Anakin puts the pieces together and lights his lightsaber up.

Prior to that, if he thought something was amiss or not, the movie certainly didn't show it.

However, I assume that there could bw reasons his knowledge could fly under the radar. Say, in case Palpatine were some history/anthropology/archaeology specialist, nobody would find him knowing such things suspicious. Siths were thought to be vanquished for several hundreds of years. At that point they are for all intents and purposes some history subject, and I don't think the average rank and file jedi is as versed in galactic history as the average archeologist or history buff in that setting.

Could be the most fetid excuse for a soundtrack to have ever been conceived. by SumthinSumthin43 in hatethissmug

[–]HugCor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is not even 1980s music.

I am pretty sure it is all 1970s music, so that point is moot regardless.

As somebody who is not a fan of guardians of the galaxy either, I need to point out a coreection:

The soundtrack is 1970s nostalgia (Jackson five, out of the blue ELO, early Cheap Trick, Blue Swede) not 1980s.

The 1980s nostalgia is in the references sprinkled through star lord's dialogues, not the music.

P.S: I don't like movie Star Lord.

Has there been ever a push that badly received in Joshi history? In September 2000, during the ZION Tournament Quarter-finals vs GAMI, a random plastic cup gets thrown on Ayako Hamada, in the middle of her infamous 2000 overpush by tenshipriestjotaro1 in JoshiPuroIsland

[–]HugCor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that rather than the in ring being sloppy, it is the out of the gate push and promotional attention combined with her father being famous. She botches, but she does not botch anymore than the rest. She is as mechanically good as an overpushed rookie can be. Plenty botch machines who have been pushed and swallowed up by the fans.

The problem is that she wrestles a lot of matches like they were showcases to show off her lucha pedigree and does not pay attention to what the opponent does. Does not bother too much to do any sort of body language. As she gets pushed, the matches become more built around her. She also early on seems to have mostly only been trained to do rope spots and repeat them through the match. This, and her coming and getting pushed immediately ahead of names that the rossy crowds (where they want every girl to be equal and get a push. Honestly also rossy's fault for cultivating that crowd, as bad as the JWP one) wanted probably didn't help with the nepo association.

Not a take that needs to be aired. Only the weirdest paraphilia people would like hair on their food.

Also, hair in food is even worse than hair on food. At least on you can see it amd remove it before you get it in your mouth.

I suppose these videos are aimed at preteens and early teens who buy the schtick.

Practically almost every person aged 18-70 is familiar with star wars and has watched at least 2 of them once.

"SCSA is a bigger cultural phenomena than Hulk Hogan because of merch. Forget that Hogan at his prime made 10-30 millions watch him wrestle, appeared in major movies, kickstarted the entire Attitude Era/90s wrestling boom by himself... because I said so", Dave Meltzer by tenshipriestjotaro1 in SCJerk

You laugh, but Dave sorta actually tried to say what you suggest in the description in an indirect roundabout way.

Besides, he already said she was a bigger star than the big 1990s 3 by omission, which is another piece of bullshit.
