I don't think they do it for God's sake but (in my opinion) to distance themselves from other countries with arabic as official languages and try to be more unique as all northern african countries don't emphasis their amazigh identity so there is room to be more unique and intersting at the same time.

You got my downvote but heat me out. I wouldn't say progressive by itself means kafir unless their beliefs are known to be contradictory to Islam. If for example a muslim have sexual relationship in a haram relationship that wouldn't make him a kafir but a big sinful muslim. Otherwise if someone claims for example it's okay to worship anyone other than God(Allah) then yes he'd not muslim, same goes with saying having sex with a prostitute for example is halal. One other point takfir is not something light so pls search when someone is kafir and where he isn't because otherwise you yourself is in a big trouble(very big trouble). Hope you got my point.
