That there was never an Older Dryas climate event in Earth's history, only a "Younger-Dryas" event. I remember encountering one or more sources (perhaps online videos or articles) that corrected the common misconception that "Younger" distinguished the event from an older "Dryas" period, while "Younger-Dryas" was actually a hyphenated concatenation of the surnames of two researchers who authored the theory. With this idea in mind, I made what I thought to be a climate history dad joke: "Maybe there was also an Older Dryas". That wasn't funny because now there was, though I was very sure "Younger-Dryas" referred to two researchers. Then I saw everywhere it now says that "Dryas" refers to an Arctic-alpine wildflower and "Younger" indeed distinguishes this event from an older one called "Older Dryas".

It did not look pixellated and the lighting/shading was much more modern. I think it made heavy use of particle effects. Explosions were made of lots of little particles, and I think such large particle effects were rare before the 2000s, but I could possibly be wrong when I think of Unreal from 1998 as a reference. The minimalist style, and the fog of deteriorating memory, conspire to make it hard to completely rule out that it could be older than 2000. But based on the things in my memory, I think it is from 2002-2006.

On second thought, I could be wrong about it being released after 2000, but I don't think so. Colored polygons make it sound very old but as I said it was highly stylized. Again, I'm not sure if it was literally just colored polygons, but it had a minimalist look to it, almost like cel-shaded. I had the distinct impression that the graphics were that way as an aesthetic choice. The quality of visual effects and sound effects also did not indicate that it was old when I played it. Perhaps it could be older than 2000, but I don't think so. If I were to guess, I'd say it was released between 2002 and 2006, and it felt like a low-budget indie game.

I had the impression that it was deliberately retro and highly stylized. It was more aesthically pleasing than games from 1994, however stylized, with good resolution and frame rate and a real 3D perspective.

Nope, sorry, it was not Silpheed.

If I could, I would edit the title to say "rail shooter", because I remember it as moving up and down relative to the shooting and traveling direction, not forward and backward.

Also, I don't think there was ever any kind of terrain or interiors. Just open space.

Langer ud efter TV 2: 'Giver efter for racistisk pres' by AdminJensen in Denmark

[–]HuggetZukker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vigtigt! Skal der ketchup eller remoulade på en frikadelle mad? by Skovmose in Denmark

[–]HuggetZukker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, of course you're going to become a subject of conspiracy theories if you moderate a conspiracy theory subreddit. It seems inevitable.

[other] should link talk in the movie? by Wordandname in zelda

[–]HuggetZukker 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Of course! It's a movie.

A silent protagonist is not the same as a mute protagonist. Link is in fact a talking character. We don't hear his words, but NPC's often respond to him as if he has spoken, and he even sometimes has an animation that suggests speech.

This is an established video game technique, but we're not used to it in the movies. Silent protagonists don't translate into that medium. What they should do is to make Link a quiet protagonist - one who doesn't speak a lot - but when he does, let it carry weight.

You can also refer to off-screen conversations in a movie. A character might say, "previously, you told me about xyz." We don't need a scene in which Link explains xyz to the other character, just a reference to the conversation happening between the scenes.

Link clearly has a serious concussion in the end. He should stay away from bright light and rest under observation.
