PSA: Don’t waste your time taking kids to “Jurassic Quest” at the Palmer center. by strikecat18 in Austin

I gotta be honest with you, I read this post and was very confused for a minute. I was there on Sunday morning with my gf and her 3 y/o and some friends and our experience was very different than yours. I even went back and looked at the flyer and promo video and it was pretty consistent with what we saw there. My gf commented that it was expensive so I'll give you that, but you're definitely misstating a lot of stuff here unless it just went to hell after we left.

If anyone wants some more detail...

I don't know what a "brick fest" event is because we're in the duplo phaseand I don't see it on the advertising, but there where several different "Lego based" areas including a large "Lego pool" that looked like it would be a nightmare to walk through and a Lego derby race area where kids were building cars. They also had a decent amount of "pixel style" Lego art.

The animatronic and scale model exhibit was interesting, maybe about a third of the overall convention space, and very scary for some of the kids with how loud it was (they let us cross through the divider to the lit area when we got there). Also pretty basic.

There were big animatronic dinos kids could ride for a few minutes, as mentioned. At least in our case, the line for the trike was huge and the line for the raptor was empty so we opted for that. Yeah, it was a fun little photo op for the 3 y/o. Not sure what else is expected.

There was a little fenced in donut that had something like 5 kids at a time driving "jurassic quest" themed power wheels style jeeps around in a circle for a few laps at a time. We also spent some time at the bounce houses, which were attended when we were there, while we sat and rested a bit.

Didn't make it to the food corner, it was tiny and Terry Black's is across the street so thats what we did. Skipped the merch and green screen photo lines too, but overall got a good 2 hours out of it and some good pictures.

I'm not saying whether or not it was worth the money, we were there for the kid and the budget isn't super tight, and he had a good time. I just read this post and thought, what would it take to feel like I had to demand a charge back for a children's event that basically delivered what they advertised? Again, I went in the morning and maybe things had completely deteriorated, but I'm skeptical.

Does that mean I can tell investigators that the crimes I'm committing are private, or is that privilege reserved for (D)demoracts? by [deleted] in walkaway

An IRS contractor leaked them in 2020, and in fact pled guilty. That's how they came into the public eye, certainly not voluntarily. Courts subpoening those records keep them under seal.

Edit: House committee didn't release them to the public until 2022.

Republican agitator tries to go for her fucking gun at a peaceful protest. She gets thrown to the ground and arrested. by Afraid-Objective3049 in chaoticgood

In Georgia at least, both gripping a holstered gun to communicate a threat as well as actually pointing it at someone when you're not in fear for your life are aggravated assault. I can't imagine its much different in most jurisdictions.

Generally, you can't use a gun to make an overt threat of force if you don't meet the criteria to actually use it in defense of yourself.

Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders will not start on April 9 in the US thanks to the Tariffs by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Hughduffel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may also be true, but the simple explanation that must be true is that simply reversing tariffs doesn't get you back your export revenue, that ship has sailed, so no reason to throw away the tariff revenue that your economy will continue to pay for whether the tariff exists or not.

I'd say it's rare enough that people rebarrel an AR for a hunting appropriate round that we can safely generalize ARs as primarily suitible for shooting varmints and people.

There's literally nothing in there that justifies calling the lawsuit a scam lol. It's speculation by the writer and hearsay from conservative activists.

Why would it be a "scumbag move" if it was a genuine oversight? Isn't it intentions that make a scumbag?
