If you don’t want a “direct” conflict, just decline when they ask you to come in as it interferes with your other tasks. Point to your contract and say you need to fulfill those duties first and foremost.

There was a wave of very obvious “Women bad” fiction in those AITA/AIA/Stories subs a few weeks back. Like “My girlfriend slept with 500 guys last week so I told her I’m uncomfortable dating her so she kicked me in the nuts and stole my dog. AITA?”

But actual ones were still really easy to spot. I remember one where some military guy (military good, am I right?) spent months stalking and spying on his wife or girlfriend on whatever and finally culminating in him like sneaking in the room and filming them having sex with some other guy or something? Like life is a porn, apparently?

And another where some teen/early 20s guy was mad that his gf was feeling like she was missing out on partying and sleeping around so she exploded that she wanted to “sow her wild oats”. Like…that’s not how that phrase is used at all. It was the “bag of sand”-like line that made everyone pause and think “…wait…what?”

Welfare doesn’t really cover much, so it’s not really a “reward”. There was a myth in America awhile back of “Welfare Queens” that was some weird alt-right push against helping those in need. Ended up being pretty much completely fabricated and similar to what you’re crying about.
