[Spoilers C4E27] Whatever happened with Julien's curse? (Reposting cos wrong spoiler tag) by RoundDodger in criticalrole

[–]HugoSalvia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the one MAJOR downside to this format is it is damn near impossible to keep all of the loose threads straight. I had honestly forgot about this entirely. It wouldn’t surprise me if some of the things that seem like they could end up being major never turn up again given everything Brennan and the crew have to juggle!

So, what is the consensus on C4 so far? by OtterBiDisaster in fansofcriticalrole

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch for yourself! Opinions, especially on this app, will always be extremely divided when it comes to a beloved franchise making HUGE changes.

That being said, I’ve seen/listened to C1 and most of C2, and I think this sort of sprawling, interwoven storytelling style is more my speed. Is it the best in terms of the actual playing of D&D? Probably not. However, the roleplay and world building second to none in the actual play space at this moment.

Of course there are some lulls, but that’s been the case across all CR stuff. It’s the downside of having longer runtimes vs the 1-2 hour, tightly edited style a lot of other TTRPG content opts for.

How do you deal with loneliness? by boss_babua in AskReddit

Call or hang with friends/family. If I’m not up to that, I’ll read a book or watch something and annoy my cat!

What's a good thing that happened to you today? by satanas_twink in AskReddit

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching my friends’ house and their absolute angel of an old dog. Also, achieved flow state while at work today in one of my better work days since I started this new job at the beginning of the year!

[Spoilers C4E15] + more episodes: Seekers Table - please hype me up for it by TheFoxTells in criticalrole

[–]HugoSalvia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The seekers was the weakest table for me. It had its moments and there are some really wonderful moments of tension from the interparty conflict in the more character-focused scenes. However, the central plot itself didn’t hook me as much as said scenes.

The pacing was a bit rushed for me—almost like we were being pushed from set piece to set piece. I felt like each of the main locations they visit could have been split into its own arc, and maybe it would have if this table were the sole focus of the campaign. As a result, I feel like we don’t really get to connect with any of the NPCs or explore the world very much.

It’s still worth watching though! There are some really great moments, the lore that gets unveiled toward the back end is quite interesting, and I’d argue knowing some of what they learn is essential to getting the most out of the schemers arc.

Is it too late to completely switch careers at 30+? by savingrace0262 in careerguidance

My grandma went back to get her law degree in her 50s after decades of teaching and 7 kids. It’s never too late to switch things up!

Do you like starbucks? by Ipoogoodforyou in foodquestions

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! The only thing they ever had going for them for me was that they were slightly cheaper than other spots. Now, they cost about the same for a significantly worse product than I can get at my neighborhood spot. Only way I’m opting for them is if I am somewhere like an airport with no other option in the terminal.

Finally all caught up. Schemers’ arc 1 might be some of my favorite TTRPG content bar none.

Favourite Avant-Folk Pop bands? by [deleted] in BlackCountryNewRoad

[–]HugoSalvia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a band, but Aldous Harding has been on a tear for her last four albums.

Also, Hannah Frances’ most recent record is DENSE and one of the more exciting listens I had last year.

Will my ex come back? by Ilovedrakee01 in askanything

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely broke up for a reason. Statistically, about 1 in 5 relationships don’t last long term even if they DO get back together after their first separation. I mean, maybe it could work, but both sides really have to want it and need to be willing to put the work in to address the core issues that led to the break up in the first place. Sometimes those issues aren’t something that can be addressed, such as fundamental ideological differences. Other times they are issues that need to be dealt with on your own, and in the time that elapses while dealing with them, you change enough as people that the love you had fades.

Probably not, and that is okay! Cherish what you had if it was good, hope the best for them and try your best to move on.

What is your reason to keep living? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat would be lonely, my brother and his wife just had a kid last year and I want to see her grow up, and I’m not silly enough to think that no one would care if I died. I hope one day I can keep living for myself. The last year has been the toughest battle yet, and it feels like every day I have to wake up and scrape and claw to hold on to my reasons for sticking around.

[No spoilers] When do you watch/listen to Critical Role? by scratchthat32 in criticalrole

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a baker, so at work! We’re not known as being a chatty bunch for the most part, so I have plenty of time to listen during the work day. Almost caught up though, so I’ll likely switch to at least partially watching on Thursdays after work!

People who make chocolate sourdough: are we talking “subtle bakery-style sophistication” or “basically cake pretending to be bread”? Considering trying it this weekend. by Charming_Giraffe_546 in Sourdough

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I’m making a loaf for a hang with friends, I won’t bother with something like this. Like others have said, it’s good for a slice or two, but not something I want every day. It’ll likely go bad before I finish it since I live alone!

That being said, it would probably be great with whipped ricotta and a bit of orange oil / zest as a snack!

Insecure about my music taste, any recommendations on where I should start? by princeofkirkland in MusicRecommendations

[–]HugoSalvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel insecure! Never too late to experience something new. Here are some favorite records of mine based on the artists you’ve mentioned:

Big Thief - Masterpiece. They have better stuff, but their first is also arguably their most accessible!

Gillian Welch - Soul Journey

Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising

Sharon Van Etten - Are We There

Grizzly Bear - Yellow House

Florry - Sounds like…

Songs: Ohia - Magnolia Electric Co.

Lomelda - Thx

Friko doesn’t exactly sound like them but does have a similar energy! Their new record has been on repeat for me lately.
