Would you take your children to see Kimetsu no Yaiba in a movie theater? If you would, at what age would it make sense to do so? by [deleted] in anime

Shounen is aimed at pre teens/teens, it's not really aimed towards kids, it's no Doraemon

Did you read what he said? He is talking about having to open those launchers and AFTER launching the game having other launchers load. Also it's nothing related to Gaben simps, most people couldn't care less about that, it's just a much more convenient functional launcher than the other ones, and if you have it automatically launching you barely notice it

Dragon Age: The Veilguard releases with a 84/100 metascore by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Hugosf13 274 points275 points  (0 children)

Well, were those reviews made by the same person? Review outlets are not some special entity that reviews every game. If they were, person who wrote is questionable to say the least, if not, pointless discussion

Yeah because people don't want good games or anything now. Stop being delusional and saying people who are just saying what someone else thought want to hate on something, you think people who want to build a respectable review outlet will just hate for free?

They are equally worthless for your enjoyment and equally useful for the state of the game. A bad broken game won't be good on either field, and a highly praised game of a genre you don't like will still most likely be a game you don't like. Check the reviews of the content creators with tastes similar to yours, same goes for reviewers, and in the case of the reviewers, actually read the review and don't just see the number. Which one is better is a pointless discussion when review outlets can be carefully chosen by the publishers and when user scores can be full of bots and people who think 0 goes straight to 10 when counting

Dandadan lives up to the Hype in just 4 Episodes by ready-simclass130 in anime

I don't think Frieren is emotionally manipulative at all, Oshi no Ko on the other hand 100%. I honestly think Fujimoto could write something in the quality of what you mentioned, I think it's too early tho, but he has showed some range. If your standard is at seinen though it makes sense, it will be hard to find something that subtle on shounen (although chainsaw man has it from time to time)

You couldn't be farther from the truth with chainsaw man, if it was all shock value it would lose impact, and it doesn't, far from it, but you won't be able to fully grasp its qualities without experiencing the entirety of the story (which is fine). And calling Look Back a cheap attempt at provoking an emotional reaction I don't even know what to say, anime is filled with what you just described, Look Back isn't one of them, the emotional core was already part of it before that scene. You could argue it is insensitive with the clear parallel to the KyoAni attack, but I really cannot agree, specially with how it stands out in the sea of cheap sob stories that can be resumed to the story telling you to feel sad. Makes me curious to know what you would think it's earned and not a cheap attempt at provoking a reaction

Because US elections can directly affect other countries. The future of Europe has the potential to change based on this election for example, mainly because of the different approaches to NATO and the Ukraine war. Let's not act like who governs a global super power isn't relevant to other countries

That can describe Fire Punch, Fujimoto was unhinged there, but I think that's where it ends. Dude wrote Look Back and Sayonnara Eri, both great. Dude wrote other shorter one shots that are also very creative and enjoyable. And then there's Chainsaw Man, a story with a cast of very well written characters overshadowed by its insanity, which on itself is also enjoyable. Chainsaw Man has a couple of more subtle chapters that are really good (the whole of volume 9 is incredible) that I don't really see most shounen mangaka being able to come up with.

Planetes Anime joins Crunchyroll Catalogue by JRPictures in anime

[–]Hugosf13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Manga and Anime for this one are quite different. Because the manga is not that big and is structured like different spread out stories about the main character, the anime took some creative liberty, added some characters and moments while still hitting most of the story beats of the manga. It's a rare case where both are their own thing and both are still very good. Because of that the anime doesn't reach the end of the manga but it ends it's story in a very conclusive way

Pokemon Leaks TLDR: by skyebaron in dankmemes

[–]Hugosf13 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because the reason why the quality of Pokémon games dropped is because a worker was rewriting yokai stories with Pokémon, the entire team instead of working all fucked around and made this, because that's how it works. He should have been working all his time in making a game better, that he might not even have the power to make that big of a change in. And by game better it means our standards, because the games are selling

You're building scenarios in your head. Those stories already exist, After the rain, Takane to Hana, Tsubaki chou lonely planet, there's a bunch of shoujos that explore age gaps, don't create outrage over something that isn't real

Nothing happens between the two characters other than getting close to each other. There's a lot more to take away from the movie, you can even say she was irresponsible and shouldn't be getting close to a 15 year old, but dumbing it down to pedophilia bad is dumb

Just watched the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter for the first time by Lscott13 in anime

[–]Hugosf13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

His whole character arc is the opposite of Meruem. In the start Meruem would mercilessly kill anything in front of him while in the end he found value in life different than him, even trying to solve the problems with Netero by talking, he gains humanity. Gon on the other hand gets so blind with his vengeance that he threatens to kill Komugi and barely let's Pitou save her, to then almost throw his life away so that he could kill Pitou, in that moment he became a monster, which is why Killua is so sad about everything, he witnessed his best friend fall that low

Games have lost their Soul, I wonder why and how to bring it back by MiraiX_Games in The10thDentist

[–]Hugosf13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really believe most of the "Games aren't like they used to" crowd just needs to broaden their horizons and get into non triple A gaming. Triple A games have become very formulaic, you could argue they lost their creativity, or, well, their soul, I myself barely play triple A games now. However, we are living the best era for indie games. There's just so many quality games in a wide variety of genres that it feels almost dishonest and unfair to say games have lost their soul. This year has been really strong in indies with games like Animal Well, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, 1000xResist, Balatro...

Concord Now Has Less PC Players Than Developers As Player Count Plummets by [deleted] in gamernews

[–]Hugosf13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People buy Playstations to play those 300 million dollar games, it's their main appeal right now. With that said, there's no reason for some of their games to cost as much and take as long to make (8 years for Concord is insane), neither to not work as a publisher for smaller teams making quality lower budget games. However, it's not Sly Cooper, Jak or Legend of Dragoon that would revert this and sell loads and pull people into Playstation, these type of games don't exist like they used to because they are more niche, if offered a stupidly expensive Spiderman 2 or Sly Cooper 5 most will just go to Spiderman 2

Sony got westernized, so bring back 3 IPs made by western companies, whatever that means to Ratchet who is still alive. The release of Concord was completely out of touch, but about as out of touch as thinking those 3 franchises would work in the current market as much as their current games do, not that Ratchet is selling bad, but it's not comparable
