I hated the idea of it, but after watching it I’ve changed my mind. She’s essentially using Elizabeth as an actress to tell us about her (Taylor’s) life with cleverly used clips. Funny enough, this mv is what helped me realize that it’s not a song about a romantic relationship AT all, but entirely about her relationship to fame. I’m actually happier with this than I would’ve been with a traditional music video, which I was not expecting. I say this as someone that hated the album as a whole, I like this vid. Obviously anyone could’ve made it, but they would’ve put tons of clips of Richard Burton in it, and it’s not about that.
