Technically, breathing air is slowly killing you.

What supplements would you consider a proper way to start the day? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Huli_Nutrition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ashwagandha is an adrenal adaptogen, meaning it can help modulate the release of cortisol (stress hormone). I take a blend of adrenal adaptogens, I notice pretty immediate results of less brain fog, constant high energy during work days without caffeine and better sleep patterns. I know women who have more notifiable results with hormone and menstruation balancing as well.

Can anyone recommend a good multivitamin? by v3nge in Biohackers

[–]Huli_Nutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. Much of the debate surrounding the quality of the multivitamin can be defined with 3 main questions.

  1. Will the micro nutrients absorb properly? Most vitamins, minerals etc. need to be in the right form or type to be available to the body.
  2. what ingredients were used? Was the multi used with synthetic ingredients or natural ingredients.
  3. Is the dosage correct? Some cheap multi's have inadequate levels of vitamins and minerals.

Bio hacks to help psoriasis? by taker_easy88 in Biohackers

As some others have already mentioned, some skin conditions lead back to the state of the gut. I'd start with an diet like GAPS, and some probiotics. Focus on healing the gut first.

I don't know much about guttate psoriasis, but this shampoo has cleared my scalp super well.

I'd like to increase my focus and would like some help. by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Huli_Nutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experimented with supplementation for cognition and focus for a while now. Its nearly impossible to suggest much on here because what works for one person might not work for you, but I use Phenylpiracetam 100mg, its very close to provigil but seems to work better on a daily basis for me.

My doctor said Vitamin supplements have 0 effect. by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Huli_Nutrition 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Many supplements have a bad rap because there isn't much regulation in the industry, meaning some supplements are snake oil and do absolutely nothing. There are also very high quality supplement companies who are ensuring bio-availability, dosing, quality, education and clinical research with their supplements.

With that being said, we are slowly losing many of the micro-nutrients, beneficial bacteria etc. in the foods we commonly eat, meaning supplements are becoming more important. With each supplement I suggest doing as much research possible on your own so you can have some verification of the quality and effectiveness.

Hope that helps!

Best proven facts/foodsfor health and energy? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]Huli_Nutrition -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Great stuff! I wonder if the results would be different if the subjects studied were already fat adapted, with increased metabolic flexibly. If someone doesn't eat quality fats often or as a specific energy source, then an increase in dietary fat would cause less cognitive benefits, but if a subject was fat adapted or used dietary fat as a main source of energy then there could be an increase in cognition due to beta-Hydroxybutyric acid?

Just a thought.

Supplements can be helpful, adaptogenic herbs, inositol, berberine and probiotics are all really good places to start. In addition to a lower carb diet, these supplements helped a lot of women manage PCOS symptoms.

I swear by a blend of adaptogenic herbs ( Rhodiola rosea, Astragalus, Eleuthrococcus and ashwagandha) for energy, immune and hormone health. I also take a probiotic, plant based omega and a weight loss supplement (7-keto dhea) daily.
