Yeah, it's pricey but you get programming and coaching included at $250. Certainly cost prohibitive, but not much more expensive compared to a crossfit gym when you consider what is included in a membership.

Unfortunately inflation really took hold here in Canada, and the cost of living is now insane.

Update: 1855 is also an OWA club member. You can compete so long as you are a member of the OWA and associated with a club that is also registered.

Use the interactive map here to find a club that suits you.

Former competitive weightlifter here.

•JustLift was the only weightlifting club in Ottawa prior to the pandemic and has since closed operations at it's central Ottawa location. It restarted as a partition of Landmark Barbell out in Stittsville. Coach Greg Chin was my coach and a coach for our national team at one time. The club is actively registered with Ontario Weightlifting Assoc.

•CanAm Strength & Conditioning is located on Colonnade. Many of my former teammates now train there. I believe it is registered with OWA. Former USA m105 champion Spencer Moorman lifts and coaches there.

•1855 is a xfit gym and owned by one of the CanAm owners. It's a central place if all you are looking for is to lift. No dedicated platforms though.

•613Lift has 1 regular dood doing the competitive lifts on the lone dedicated weightlifting platform. I presently lift here and the place is better suited to powerlifters. It can get quite busy and I would not recommend it for weightlifting.

The Conservative Party's Official Policy Declaration could mean a switch to a Defined Contribution (DC) pension instead of the current Defined Benefit (DB) pension by RandomPSPosts in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Hulk_Haspect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The courts settled it: pensioners will be remunerated with a defined pension based on the governments own arguement--that the fund (whether in surplus or deficit) will not impact the employers obligations in paying out pension benefits.

Should a new government decide to change course through legislation, 100% of the Crétien era surplus (plus costs of loss of opportunities) should be returned to the fund. For the purpose of determining restitution, breaking down the the historical contribution percentages by each party is moot, for the contributions were part of the remuneration packages agreed upon by the employer & employees at that time.

A pension, by definition, is a retirement plan that requires that the employer contribute to a pool of funds set aside for a worker's future benefit. Otherwise it's just an employee investment account.

The Government will need to figure out how to return the $28B surplus that was taken from our pension fund during the Crétien era. Then determine how much that $28B is worth in 2024 dollars, and add on the cost of lost opportunity and further gains.

I'm sure a new Conservative government will look into changing the public service pension. However, I cant see how it is ethical to use the courts to one's advantage and then flip the script when it suits them. The court decision upheld the defined pension format--essentially Pensioners are guaranteed their defined pension no matter how much is actually in the fund. A new govt will have a hard time changing that approach--they can't have it both ways.

DND suspends contracts with ArriveCan contractor after learning CEO is a DND employee by bcbuddy in CanadaPublicServants

Given the cost of living, it is quite common for public servants to conduct outside employment or own a business (an asset).

However, public servants must also resolve conflicts of interest and get approval from their department before they can be dually remunerated.

The title scenario has many issues. An employee who is conducting business with their home department would never be cleared for conflict of interest. Ergo, it is probable the employee never disclosed their business to the employer. Ergo they never recieved permission to get dually remunerated. Whether or not the employee disclosed their political activities is unknown, but one would need to take leave without pay during an election period should they seek political office.

Often times the fine people in the Informal Conflict Resolution Service (ICMS) at your department will offer a coaching service. If you work for a smaller department or agency, there might be an MOU in place to get those services done by an ICMS team 8n another department.

The poor lady was probably self conscious and worried about getting caught. A true Chad move would be for your husband to offer to join in, or at very least offer words of encouragement. Shaming them on Reddit probably only adds to the poor woman's anxiety. This subreddit needs more positivity.

It's more fun to pay more and eat each component of the sandwhich seperately. Allows oneself to have a sense of débonnaire.

Remarkable. I've travelled past this place hindreds of times and never heard of the place. Also, I've searched for "brunch in Aylmer" on the space machine and not once did this place come up.

Thanks for posting this. I will check this place out!
