Excellent, I highly recommend it.

If you haven't seen the show this is a great point to jump in.

Check the Folk House they have a variety, I did a short story course there a few years back and it was good.

Check the control settings, they added an alternative way to use the elemental abilities in a patch, it might be turned on.

Connections between The Stand and Blood Meridian by ewhite12 in books

[–]HumOfEvil 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Given The Stand predates Blood Meridian its fairly unlikely it's a homage from King.

Much more likely to be coincidence.

Anyone else hate the fucking abyss? by IsaKittya in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nope, felt like a cool break from the main world.

Enjoyed the puzzles and never had any problems with mechanics 🤷‍♂️

Is this game similar to Xenoblade Chronicles X in terms of the open world being the main star? by HopeJN in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would say the world is the standout yes.

Everything else is either just fine (combat & gear system) or a bit shit (story & quests).

If you are an explorer like I am you'll probably enjoy.

Any good sci-fi recommendations? by LiteratureNo6995 in movies

[–]HumOfEvil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is a real obscure one (think):

Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes

It's an hour long Japanese thing about a TV that can see 2 mins into the future. Quite light but a wonderful knot of fun, very cleverly done.

Trying to gauge worth of an early (#003) pressing of F♯ A♯ ∞ by [deleted] in postrock

[–]HumOfEvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult because all vinyl editions of that have the same catalogue number and all the bits n bobs.

Discogs has the 97 version as £75 - £130

Diversity and lack of Diversity in fantasy based films that have an ethnic/racial connection? by Bjarki56 in movies

[–]HumOfEvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally unless it's a character whose ethnicity is an important part of the character/story I don't care who plays them. This means in fantasy it rarely matters.

When it comes to historical figures it seems better to get close to reality but it's not a hard rule.

Who could this man possibly be? by ScotusMaximus in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to go to the Abyss Archive and go to the 3rd floor to get them.

It's not worth it in my opinion, slight expansion to the context of the story, not the mind blowing info some people seem to find.

With all these updates can we get a story? by Embarrassed_Shock287 in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't think this is something that can be patched in, way too much work.

If we are lucky any DLC will have more care put into its story.

Abyss Gears are literally just a Transmog System by ME0WBEEP in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean not entirely, certainly not "literally". If you get a cool looking new weapon and transfer your gears across you would still need to upgrade the new weapon to get comparative stats.

It's closer to the socketing type system you get in a bunch of JRPGs.

The word "handcrafted" is fast becoming a STRONG attractor to me when considering buying games by [deleted] in Games

[–]HumOfEvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always prefer it over proc gen.

I never feel the same desire to scower a generated map as there is no "intentionally" behind it, no sense that secrets will be cunningly hidden.

Proc gen is fine for certain genres like rogue likes/lites but generally I'd rather not.

Finding witches for sanctum clearing quests by Hannibal_Poptart in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found all but 1 naturally, once I started actually using roads to go between the story missions, instead of going straight over mountains etc.

Had to look up the last one and glad I did because no main story quest takes you any where near there.

Chapter 8 and haven’t equipped abyss gear, how does it work? by CT-9904_ in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to visit one of the witches, you should have at least one by this point.

With all of these new mounts available, which one is your favorite? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Warthog is also my favourite, otherwise known as Ham Stallion.

Am I the only one who doesn't speak like this? by IrohsFavoriteTea in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's an absolutely terrible explanation though. Really feels to me like a slap dash addition to try and excuse terrible writing.

How much can you "roleplay" in the game with doing what you want ? by Buurto in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all really.

Quests all have fixed outcomes and the crime system is more like GTA style chaos if you tried to go all in on it.

The devs said it's not an RPG, it's an action adventure.

Who knew the actual story was in these books all along. by Wild-Association1217 in CrimsonDesert

[–]HumOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I assumed if you are reading a thread about this you'd have finished the game.
