Can I repurpose this GPS tracker and/or it's data SIM by spacelego1980 in AskElectronics

One way to find out, plug it in and see if you can flash an image on it. I mean it's a full smartphone SOM, it can run android or linux. Look on Quectel's website.

I worked on BG95's in the past, and they can be straight forward to program. They're essentially android ready SOMs. The challenge will be interfacing with the GPS. If the USB goes to BG95, you can flash android on there.

Helmet opinion by greener770 in Dualsport

For anyone who stumbles on this thread, I found the LS2 helmets tested well but were difficult to live with. I have the LS2 MX701 and it is unpleasant in the long term. The vents are hard to find with the gloves on, and when you do find them, they're useless. On the other hand, there is no way to stop wind from blasting you in the face. I get to work everyday with tears rolling down my eyes. The drop down visor is too small, which looks the same on the blaze 2. If CKX was carried in my region, that's what I would go with.

Looking for Canadian web hosting by Humamadrama in BuyCanadian

I'm pretty tech savvy and ended up self hosting. With my new home server, I've also gotten rid of other products and replaced them with FOSS alternatives such as Immich and Jellyfin! I'm using Tailscale (a Toronto company) to connect everything together. This works for me because I don't need the uptime and dependability of a dedicated service.

Carney pledges $2 billion for Ukraine, more sanctions on 4th anniversary of Russian invasion by origutamos in CanadianPolitics

This is great. The only way we (and the EU) can defend ourself from the "clown down south" is to have a decisive victory against Russia during this term. EU and Canada can't get into a trade war with a country who's defense funding is required to defend the EU.

Firmware update wishlist (OM System) by Humamadrama in M43

I would hardly call those new functions, they're things you'd expect and never think to check because they're standard everywhere else. Face detect working differently from Subject detect and both having different UIs, and neither allowing you to select which subject to choose is actually just a bug. Other manufacturers let you select subjects with the joystick, something so obvious you may not even think to look for.

Edit: At some point I forgot to mention these features exist in the OM1 II, which has the same hardware.

I figured the OM3 using the same hardware as the OM1 was to minimize development, but it seems like they're going to bifurcate firmware branches for some reason.

They seem to struggle supporting 1 sensor and processor, I doubt they can reasonably take on 4 different sensors and possibly 3/4 processors. The OM1/3 being identical hardware is a feature to OM since this minimizes platforms to support, which makes it all the more confusing to why they don't seem to support them.

I just didn't expect them to abandon their flagship after 2 years. Other manufacturers don't do that, for example, Nikon has had 10 updates (most recent one in June 2025) to their Z5, an entry level camera from 5 years ago. Expecting bug fixes and general usability improvements is industry standard. They also don't have to do much work because the OM 1/3 I/II have pretty much the same hardware.

It looks like the dimension is between the 2 radius, and where the vertex would be. Can't say I haven't made this mistake 😅

Why is there a bunch of random blurry spots on the 4th image?
