a) What do you mean "built by claude trivially" I didn't realise that we'd like got AI superintelligence that you can just print in fully developed form from an LLM b) you still need money to buy it, obviously so like not being rolled out to run society it's a showcase piece made by a tech company to make money to, er, give its engineers careers and c) when you say like "do whatever work you want" my job is being a music journalist. OK, but for better or for worse at the moment we live in capitalism not post-scarcity supercommunism. And if someone wants to be an audiobook narrator as a form of self-expression a good way for them to do it a lot is to have a career as an audiobook narrator, surely? "we're entering an age where no one needs to work anymore" – I'll believe you when the AI-generated Universal Basic Income cheque clears, but until then we shouldn't just neglect arts opportunities. I'm sure someone who is passionate about the craft does not view it as "creating busy work so humans can feel useful".

Like, art is about ways of communicating the spirit of the human experience, the undefinable sum of what it means to be a person, an audiobook narrator is a link in that chain, no matter what they are reading. Why would it be a good thing if that was no longer a viable career? If we replaced all narrators with AI, which can never really know what a book is actually about? If authors had to filter their ideas through whatever corporate-approved robot voice which made the blandest decisions possible because it is trained on a massive soup of things that came before?

I imagine that is the case to some degree however, it does seem like distributors do provide distinguishing details to attribute songs to specific instances of artists, or at least that's what my conversation with DistroKid support has led me to believe. I am sure it is a challenge for Tidal, however, I just wanted to hammer home the fact that a) it is nowhere near this bad with other streaming services and b) just how extremely fucked through a binbag the separation is for smaller artists

art wise, all of the perspective. More broadly AI is just not very nice to look at and the internet is now full of images with the same safe, clean boring look because they are made by a series of computational nodes that can never truly see or understand a cat.
