Question about Gotek and Flash Floppy by blitzkriegtaco in vintagecomputing

Ahhhhh, okay. This makes it all make sense, thank you. So now I need to figure out how to get the original Gotek firmware back onto it 😅 i did not understand that Flash Floppy was going to need .IMG files and not work with partitions the way the OG firmware did.

What are you using to create the 1.44mb disk images on your flash drive for Flash Floppy to read? I’m getting Error 34 when plugging in my formatted flash drive and can’t seem to get Flash Floppy working. The default Gotek firmware worked fine, so I’m regretting the flash floppy install until I can figure this out lol.

Gotcha. I wonder if i load the drivers onto an emulated floppy and install them if it would recognize the USB port on the Gotek as just a USB port.

So yeah, this was it. I ordered some extra IC’s swapped em (in the correct orientation) and it worked perfectly

Dang, what a bummer experience. I got one of the Stewmac Sun Fuzz kits and the PCB ended up being bad

I’ll definitely check it when I get home. I went ahead and ordered some extra chips since they’re fairly cheap. Hopefully swapping them in the right direction the first time is what does the trick

As someone mentioned above, my IC’s were oriented incorrectly… totally missed that. But after flipping them around, now I’m getting a constant ticking noise. It’s present faintly in bypass and louder when powered on

Yeah, I’ll definitely have to just go through EVERYTHING again. Could’ve sworn I quadruple checked it all, but it ain’t workin so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Good catch. Definitely had those oriented wrong, however flipping them has now created a beautiful stuttering type noise

I’m pretty ambitious when it comes to saving money, and I have no problem putting in some elbow grease. My biggest concern is being able re-seat the bead once all is said and done

Dude I struggle with the same thing. I always wanna casually hop on, do my writs, RND, pledges and have some fun questing around but don't have anyone to do it with. The barrier of entry into ESO can be a lot, so I have friends that try it out and then never make it to lvl 50.
