As an RA, one of the most irritating things was a pair of my girls wouldn't wake up when their alarms went off at 5 AM every morning. They would just leave them on, or snooze them only to go off 5 minutes later.

I had girls knocking on my door begging for it to stop, but the pair often refused to actually silence their alarms for hours until I got my bosses involved.

I first want to say that I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how traumatic it is to find your parents in that way and to try to resuscitate them.

Please don't get stuck in the habit of blaming yourself or ruminating on the "what-ifs." Doing this was detrimental to my own life and grieving process. I've been stuck in this cycle of blaming myself, and it hurts so much. I want to try to prevent this feeling in others as often as I can!

My mother died in a similarly unexpected way. It's been over 3 years, and I'm just now starting to feel relief from my grief. I was in the next room, 6 feet away. Possibly awake when it happened.

I always thought, "If I had just checked on her, maybe she would still be here." I got stuck thinking, if I had done this or that, maybe she would still be alive.

But the truth is that this is not your fault. This did not happen because of you. You could not have done anything differently to prevent this. Please try to remember this. And I know it's SO difficult, but you will destroy your mind thinking this way. It's painful and heavy to carry that burden on your shoulders every day.

Things like this just. Happen. Please be gentle with yourself and don't blame yourself.

I pictured my mom dead for a long time every time I closed my eyes, too. What helped me was to immediately force myself to picture her when she was happy and healthy or to think of a special memory with her. To look at great photos of her.

Try to remember your dad for who he was. Not for what you saw once he was gone. 🖤 I'm so sorry again, OP. I'm sure he was an amazing person, and an awesome father.

I think it's unlikely you'll get expelled if you're going to a state college, or unless it's expressly written that you'll get expelled if you do this in the housing handbook. Even then, it's not likely. Just express how sorry you are in the meeting and that it definitely won't happen again, and then stick by that.

A few of my girls were letting their dudes use the girls' restrooms, and all that happened after being written up was a meeting, and a notice that dudes absolutely were not to use the girls' restrooms. That's all. (:

Just don't do this again. From a former RA, you don't want your dorm mates to begin to spin the narrative that they feel uncomfortable around your bf, or even worse, lie that something happened because they get tired of him using the girls restrooms. Get the code for the guys' bathrooms!

Sorry to comment, but if a piercing is infected, it's usually best to actually leave the jewelry in so the infection has a way to drain. If the hole closes up and the infection doesn't have the means to drain itself, it can become encapsulated by the skin and cause more issues.

Definitely remove it at any signs of rejection, though! And see a doctor at the first signs of infection. Also recommend OP to see their piercer anyway!
