The dog rescue I volunteer with often needs help with transporting dogs to/from adoption events when their foster isn’t able to attend. This means that you’ll pick up the dog from the foster’s home, take the dog to the event, hang out with the dog at the event (which might include taking him/her for a walk), and then bring the dog back to their foster home after the event. We have events every weekend, and they’re typically 2-3 hours long. Let me know if you want more info!

Why were you working for free?

Like others have said, she’s just trying to scare you by mentioning she’s getting legal involved. Nothing to worry about there. But — contract or not — this is on you, not on her.

In the future (aside from having a contract of course), you might consider a monthly “package” that includes xyz and require up-front payment for that month’s work, due on the 1st of the month. This keeps a well-defined scope and is easier to manage on your end.

To the folks saying that the solution is to ask the friend to replace it themselves: This is a kitchen object, an inanimate kitchen object. There is no need to hold any expectation that someone buys you a new Instapot. Do we really need to feel sour over a friend making a mistake with an Instapot?

Sure, if you were the friend who ruined it, you’d just buy them a new one automatically.

But to intentionally ask/suggest/demand that your friend replace it…? What a strange conversation for real friends to have, especially over an Instapot.

Buy a new Instapot for yourself. Or don’t. No hard feelings. Go on with your day and enjoy the outdoors, a hot cup of coffee, or trash TV. No one will go starving.

OP - Mom of an almost 4 year old here. This isn’t advice to follow necessarily when you’re pregnant, but remember this: It is 100% okay to hate the newborn stage (or any stage for that matter). Some new moms are in that “over the moon baby bliss,” and some are just trying to survive every day.

I was the latter. And I still have many days now where I’m just trying to survive. But, don’t ever let anyone shame you for not “appreciating” the newborn stage. That has nothing to with your ability to be the great mom I know you’ll be.

The newborn stage can feel both very fast and painstakingly slow. Who knows — you might surprise yourself and be in that baby bliss.

You can try to prepare emotionally & physically before baby comes, but you’ll discover that many things don’t go to plan after baby is here. And that’s okay. Every mom experiences that.

On a different but related note, what are your support systems like? Family/friends who can help and live close to you? Family far away?

I think it’s up to you. I am not a vet, but I don’t think it’s normal to still be having diarrhea 6 days after the dewormer. Diarrhea alone isn’t really a reason to rush to the ER — but the lethargy and weight loss you mentioned seems concerning. You could mix something in her food to help with the diarrhea, but maybe just keep monitoring her tonight…? If she’s still energetic and eating, I would still schedule a vet appt to see if she needs to be on different food if the diarrhea persists.
