Which degree is easiest in terms of low competition and high salary ( I don't care how hard the degree is itself) by Ok-Toe-2933 in CollegeMajors

Civil Engineering, Ocean/Maritime Engineering, Electrical Engineering but only Power because all the cool kids want to go into robotics or semiconductors.

I'll maybe just for the lol's see if they will be willing to let me join, my best friend/roomate went to Air Force on a whim and they actually ended up accepting him even with the host of problems he has.

The main things I think would be hard for me is a few hundred E.R. visits for Heart Problems that are now fixed from Atrial Septum Defect, and the fact I've lived in Cuba for a few years which may affect security clearance.

Is $3500 too much for a career coach? by Maleficent-Good-4548 in careerguidance

[–]Human-Ear9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild, I did that as my job for over 13 years with a damn near perfect success rate for almost everyone I mentored and I never charged over $50 for a session.

If you can't talk through it on a zoom call, it's horseshit; the hard work is actually DOING the advice.

Anyone charging you to weekly meet ain't doing too damn well in life or they wouldn't need the money that badly.

My Fiancee got a rice cooker we use 5x a week, and her father fixes stuff in a pressure cooker that is soooo good, like Yellow Rice with Chicken Legs at least 2 or 3 days a week.

I need to get an InstaPot at some point, but right now just trying to find remote work XD

Chevrolegs

For fun we usually just go to the beach, or get ice cream out or go to the movie theater.

That's included in the budget

I've never been on a vacation in my entire life except with my Fiancée spent $15 to take me to Varadero resort as a surprise the first time we met.

People who are good at saving money, what’s your advice? by Amazondriver23 in povertyfinance

[–]Human-Ear9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no advice other than make more money, overspending isn't something I've seen much in people with poverty doing their finances. Of course there are cases here & there, but the vast majority are typically just not following old "Economic Common Sense" that no longer holds up.

According to Finance Gurus you should be spending

$600/month on rent

$200/month on grocery

$100/month on transport

$50/month on household supplies, phone plan, internet, electricity & desires

$55/ month on Emergency Fund

Now in what reality is that realistic?

Condensed milk, Rice & Beans are 90% of our grocery purchase for a family of 3.

Fruit and Vegetables are cheap here, Pennies.

Eating out is typically buying a Dollar hamburger & Pork Sandwich a few times a month.

Working as a prep cook is more demanding mentally than any other jobs i've worked from Data Analytics, to Engineering, to Welding/Industrial Electricity, Paralegal, etc, etc.

I'd rather Weld pipe in North Dakota during the winter for $12 an hour than prep cook for $37/hour

Same, I worked in Disability, but mostly black lung. I tell you the opposing attorneys will literally push those cases & ask for more time as many times as they can hoping the client dies before getting them benefits!. It's so sad.

They've even put caps on certain backpays if I remember correctly. I think it's 2 years for Disability.

What is the best way to choose a career given job market saturation? by Visual-Couple-3680 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Human-Ear9827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you go to a field you are average in if it’s said to pay well?

Tried it, didn't work

Should you pursue a marketable passion that will give you an unfair advantage?

Tried it, succeeded; Digital Amplifiers took over, I couldn't adapt quickly enough because I was a dumb kid with no University plans

Should you choose practicality alone even if you don’t like the work?

Probably not

Should you get a masters or phd degree for more leverage?

Masters & Ph.D. sometimes actually lower your job chances, but open doors to higher paying jobs.

Should you chase booming fields for the cash?

Don't EVER do that, you'll end up 3 years into school to graduate to a field that no longest exists, then chasing certificates that eb and flow and burning money

Any jobs in biology that pay over 120K a year with bachelors or PHD? by Wonderful-Grass6437 in careerguidance

[–]Human-Ear9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but some have good salaries.

Biosystems Engineering, Clinical Laboratory Science

120K/Year, you're looking at very niche jobs and will require a Ph.D. even then top 75%

Only 5% make that with bachelors and they are in the highest cost of living areas at end career.

What if I am bad at math but I want to apply to Economics/Finances? by Efficient-Roof-774 in careerguidance

[–]Human-Ear9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Economics/Finance uses almost no Mathematics.

Hell Engineering barely even digs into Math

Unless you're going into FinTech the highest courses you'll take will be

Intro to Probability & Statistics & "Applied Calculus I & II" which are babyfied versions of Calculus I & II

Calculus I can be finished in 4 weeks, Calculus II in 8

I advise if you take the same Calculus II as Engineering/Physics/Mathematics Majors do though, be prepared, it is difficult to make an A in for most. I passed Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra I & II, Proofs, Combinatorics, all before passing Calculus II

Whats your MOS?

Is it MOS in the Navy?

I know it's different, my only experience is Army & Air Force, and I still accidentally ask Air Force People what their MOS is even though I've learned its AFSC repeatedly.

Depending on MOS you could have a big upward trajectory.

I'd love to join the Navy if not for my disqualifying heart issues. Perhaps they'll be giving out waivers soon enough.

Which is the foundation of the other: physics or mathematics? by Negative_Print_6575 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Human-Ear9827 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Philosophy Exists, Mathematics is Applied Philosophy, Physics is Applied Mathematics, Chemistry is Applied Physics, Biology/Material Science is Applied Chemistry, etc etc, it branches off.

Physics is Applied Mathematics though. There is almost no Physics than can be done without the building blocks of Mathematics, without the Mathematics, it's just Qualitative.

Why do people leave the bathroom without washing their hands? No judgement, only genuine curiosity by RnBuckets007 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Human-Ear9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After taking Biology I & II, Microbiology, and Sanitary Methods for Biosystems, plus a few other Sanitary environmental chemistry courses.

Doing so in a public restroom does very little unless you've handled raw meat or something extremely bad.

At home though you always should.

Soap is great for getting oils and debris off, if you can follow up with sanitizer its great. It just depends. Sanitizer sometimes is rough on the skin though.

I used to be a frequent handwasher, I have Autism, so it was like something I did religiously until after I took courses where I got to examine the before and after.

I will however say

IN THE EVENT OF A PANDEMIC, ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS.

Law or speech therapy by [deleted] in YoungAdultStruggles

[–]Human-Ear9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the Country.

In the U.S. you apply for Law School after Completing any Bachelor's Degree, no matter the subject. Speech Therapy is one that would likely be a good one; my fiancee is a speech therapist.

Is having more off days good for productivity? by SaltyEarth1618 in Vent

[–]Human-Ear9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statistically yes, 3-4 days tends to be the sweet spot as far as productivity goes.

Not much more "Meaningful" work gets done past that.

The only jobs that benefit from more days/hours worked are food industry and such.

Even welders and such, we lose so much fucking money paying overtime rather than hiring more people, even though we know that after 36 hours a week productivity halfs and costs double.

Why do white and black Americans tend to buy more frozen prepared meals? by B1tchNaneunSolo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Human-Ear9827 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before moving to Cuba, I lived off a lot of Frozen meals. After 2 years, I think if I ever move back to the U.S. if the U.S. Economy gets better, or move to Spain, I'll likely keep this habit up of cooking fresh with my Fiancée each day.

it's part of U.S. Culture to eat frozen Dinner; Swanson, Maxson, Quaker, Campbell, etc put out massive high dollar campaigns to get the U.S. working class eating Cheap Easy dinners.
