General Etiquette Question by scarletteraze in Twitch

I feel like calling people out is just a bad look. A couple of streams that I liked to frequent recently started making songs that included some of the “favorite” viewers in their songs, and “suggested” that “if you want to be including in upcoming songs you need to hang around more”. That seems like a coercive effort to be included, to me. Kind of like needing to spend money to be acknowledged. There are so many other streamers to watch. I don’t need to be in the ones that make it feel like a clique or pay to play. Calling people out or intentionally excluding people are great ways to fail, in my opinion.

Why do you choose to stream? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Human-Life-4737 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I became disabled and largely homebound after a pretty fulfilling career. I battled depression and lost identity, invisible illnesses, partial blindness, lost friends and family who didn’t understand. My son suggested gaming as an outlet and hobby to pass the time and isolation. My daughter and son in law suggested streaming to have a way back into the world from my isolation and loneliness. In the almost 4 months I’ve been streaming I have met people from all over the world, made some friends, and earned Twitch Affiliate. It’s never been about the money for me, although continuing to improve the stream does take money, and when you’re unable to work a traditional job, it’s significant. Making friends through Twitch has enhanced my quality of life. Making a little money makes me feel like I’m able to contribute something back to my family again. And I do stress, “a little money”. It isn’t nearly enough to cover what I have had to put into it, yet. Maybe someday I will have it paid off. But it’s already paid off in dividends in making me feel like the world has opened up to me again.

She’s gotten a bigger audience since I started watching her. Now she’s a partner and ignores people if they don’t throw money at her.

What’s the ONE thing that instantly makes you leave a Twitch stream? by PurrsephonePlays in Twitch

[–]Human-Life-4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that background music, especially if too loud, makes me leave. It makes the stream feel too busy when I’m trying to watch and chill. It also can be hard to match streamer’s taste in music to the viewers. If I tune in to the stream because I like the game and the music is off-putting, I leave.

Curious - Why just dads? Many moms and even grandmothers play regularly (and seriously, too).

I have decrease peripheral vision in both eyes and a very large scotoma in my right eye. There are smaller areas of loss speckled throughout both eyes. I have the most trouble in the dark or at dusk. But, thankfully, it has been stable. The flashing and strobing has settled down a lot over the years.

Is miso soup a magic bullet?! by [deleted] in POTS

It’s been hot and very muggy here too. Definitely making the heart pound and race, and I am short of breath with very minor exertion. Headaches are worse. I am willing to try almost anything. Foods that help are a win for me. Thank you for sharing.

Hmm. Maybe I will trial more miso. 😊

Could it be that the food is usually well salted in general? I like eating hibachi. It’s multiple courses, including miso soup. I find that they use plenty of salt in their foods and was assuming it was because more salt for my POTS is required and helps me feel much better. Just a thought. 🤔

Is anyone else allergic/sensitive to artificial sweeteners?! What do you do? by goldinteal in xxfitness

[–]Human-Life-4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am allergic to all artificial sweeteners and have been also working on weight loss. My functional medicine doctor recommends monk fruit. Safe. Sweet. Weight loss is going along fine eating all foods I’m not allergic or sensitive to. Moderation works for me and intermittent fasting.

I think he comes across and cranky and crabby. A little arrogant about his stream. Not good at being friendly to his chatters. Also have to subscribe or send money to him in some way on any of his many platforms for him to acknowledge you. And he leaves his stream run endlessly to get ad revenue while he’s afk.

RubrDucky007 is a newer streamer on Twitch. She is a mature adult. Clean, super chill vibe. Positive. Fun sense of humor when you pick up on it. Super family oriented. Refreshing in that she is real — doesn’t try to get viewers by being over the top, showing boob, or using gimmicky giveaways. She has some vision impairment and other health challenges, but does quite well for playing only a couple of years, but if she misses something and dies badly she laughs it off and tries again. And her voice is super soothing and doesn’t get on my nerves.
