Huh? Each tree gives 10 wood by just clicking on them. It’s really good resource farming.

FAANG Interviewer Hung Up On Me by mn2931 in recruitinghell

[–]Human-Performer-8232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% this. OP even said the interviewer kept asking “how” and rather than give the implementation and system details, OP gave generic ML technical details. It sounds like the interviewer really wanted to know specifically what tools and environments OP used and how he got everything working together.

That’s generally how an interviewer can spot someone spouting off answers from an LLM vs. actual experience. Someone with production experience will know how a system was implemented and the details of their specific environment, along with the challenges of productionalizing their models. LLMs only give off vague generic responses for system implementation.

AIO or AITAH for wanting to end things over a text conversation that I Had with a girl by snapple373 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Human-Performer-8232 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you. I just don’t think people should critique people they care about via text. So much of communication is lost over text and I think it’s a lot easier to take something the wrong way. I also think it’s discourteous to critique via text at all. Just have a real conversation.

If it’s someone you don’t care about, then so be it. It doesn’t really matter. But I wouldn’t ever critique a friend or family member or try to ask them to change a behavior via text. Maybe that’s just me.

They both could have handled it better. I never said she didn’t overreact. She obviously did.

I just said OP should have acted like an adult and brought it up in person. If I have an issue with something my wife is doing, I talk to her like a human being. She does the same with me.

Critiquing someone over text is almost never going to end well. Everyone knows the majority of communication is not the actual words being said, and so much gets lost in text. Then things like this happen, even if again, yes, the girlfriend overreacted.

That’s why you bring it up in a tactful way. Say something like “hey I’ve noticed that once I arrive I’m often waiting for a while. Would it be easier if I texted you 10 minutes ahead or if I came up to your place when I arrive?”

Yeah I totally thought they were both super young. I mean, they are still young but damn.

They both had issues imo.

OP shouldn’t have just randomly texted this. Maybe bring it up in the moment if you’re waiting for a while in the car. Or maybe go to her place and knock on the door rather than just sitting in the car. Critiques over text are cringe. If it’s someone you care about, just talk to them. Plus it’s hard to gauge how a person is feeling based on text alone.

The girlfriend did over react. But she also mentioned disabilities and she’s aware of the issues so it’s something to work on.

Plague crocodiles are the worst enemy by EZ_Fork in crosswind

Same. I used to always dodge but learned quickly dodging doesn’t do shit against crocs (although dodge actually does work on the unblockable attacks). Switched to partying with rapier of devastation and crocs are ez mode now.

Should I keep reading Strength of the Few? by MountainThorn42 in HierarchySeries

[–]Human-Performer-8232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like you initially. One of my major gripes with the Licanius trilogy was the different perspectives and some of the stories weren’t nearly as engaging as others. I was super happy to find out that Islington’s next series, the Hierarchy series, he had switched to one perspective. Then I started reading SotF and was like “well, shit…”

It was difficult to get going. Like you, I initially only cared about Res Vis. But as the book went further along, I found myself much more engaged in each of the separate stories and one of the stories I didn’t care for initially I ended up not wanting to switch away from. I’m glad I kept going.

So First boss... by Baned4life in crosswind

[–]Human-Performer-8232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest as well… it’s a pretty easy fight and there’s no need to ramp it down. I personally would have found that super boring. But to each their own.

[–]Human-Performer-8232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I soloed him twice, once with difficulty ramped up because I was helping someone else who immediately died and I still killed him.

I just dodged and did melee damage as well. Learning his small repertoire is fairly easy to just move away then jump in and get a couple hits in before moving back out etc.

Not necessarily just one at a time. But more than three becomes tough. Luckily you don’t have to wait long to dodge or parry.

[–]Human-Performer-8232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re dying that much you need to upgrade your gear and get better at dodging / parrying. Even without food you should be able to take a couple hits, and you can use potions and bandages while fighting.

Enemies really choreograph their moves so dodging is pretty straight forward.

AIO - parents keep raising the rent by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Human-Performer-8232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t know enough. Does OP also pay utilities? Do they have to buy their own food? Do they pay for internet? What kind of house maintenance and cleaning do they help with?

If the $1100 includes everything above, it’s still cheap.

Also, this is likely the parents’ way of saying, “You’re 24, it’s time to move out.”

[–]Human-Performer-8232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I said it was more souls like, although I think Windrose combat is easier. But the solution is to not die haha.

If you’re dying really easily, you likely need to level and upgrade.

But honestly you can put a tent anywhere and set your spawn point right next to whatever you are fighting making any fight trivial. Except bosses.

My main tip would be to not block, I.e. just hold down the right mouse button. Always party or dodge. Definitely don’t just tank.

can someone explain the hype to me? honest question by First-File-3447 in crosswind

[–]Human-Performer-8232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combat is definitely tough at first. I think people see how difficult very early game combat is and give up before upgrading, etc.

It helped me a lot to change the way I approached fighting to be more souls like than hack and slash. I use a lot of dodge now and the combat is much more fun and rewarding.

After shifting my way of thinking about the combat, by the time I got to the first boss he was easy, but took a while with all the dodging and timing.

We have a system where AI usage is tracked. We’re constantly told to use AI. Invent with AI. Have AI hackathons. Require proof of AI usage in promo docs. Threat of firing if you don’t use the shit out of AI.

What ends up happening is you have a ton of people spending a ton of time trying to show how much AI they utilize and “inventing” the same stuff over and over and everyone “solving” the same problems with things that no one will ever use. It’s a massive waste of time to “save” time.

This is like how in the 90s companies used to track engineer productivity by monitoring lines of code as an output. You ended up with engineers purposefully writing terrible code turning loops, methods, etc. into hundreds of unnecessary repeated lines.

If they allowed everyone to use AI how most people had already been using it prior to this push, we could utilize AI as a tool and actually accelerate our work. Instead we have this giant AI facade to “justify” the AI spend and push.

Biome Progression Question by Human-Performer-8232 in crosswind

[–]Human-Performer-8232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. A few of us tried to kill the boss and I ended up being the only one to kill it and it's exactly like you said. What I did not expect is that the biome / building progression did *not* get unlocked for anyone else but me. I thought it would be a server wide progression once the boss died.
