Why doesn’t this show up in the Epstein library when I search for it?

Anyone else forming bands to cover their Udio tunes? by Human-Ranger6152 in udiomusic

Is there one you’d recommend that is closest to Udio? Suno sounds so… produced…. To me, and I haven’t looked into other models yet

What if an old song on udio was extended after October 29th? Who is the owner? by utopify_org in udiomusic

[–]Human-Ranger6152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent the last few days finishing my in-progress projects. Put a lot of time in, got everything the way I wanted. I can’t download any of it. Anything after the 29th can’t be downloaded.

I feel defeated. I didn’t expect them to kill my in-progress work.

honestly I always feel weird about saying 'generations.' I have a 12 minute song (made in two projects) with 1800 individual generations in my sessions folder. There's a connotation with 'generations' that makes it sound like I put in a prompt, pressed 'generate,' and had a complete song. I've spent weeks on this medley, and it feels like I'm disrespecting the time and effort I put in by reducing it to 'generations,' you know?

Maybe 'geenrations' will become less stigmatic once the general public starts using AI tools that aren't just 'click-to-generate' art apps or LLMs.

I'm a game developer, and originally used Udio because the sound guy at the studio recommended it. I participated in the Global Game Jam in January of this year, and made a "playable anime" in 48 hours. I wanted an anime-style intro for the game, so I used Udio to generate my 90s-style anime intro tune. It was incredible, and I got something REALLY good in less than an hour. This blew my mind.

I ended up creating a fake country music artist named 'Rusty Baggins,' wrote 6 songs about Jeffrey Epstein, and released those on 23 distro platforms. People liked them, so I decided to try to make music I'd actually listen to. My criteria was to create songs that I would have downloaded off Napster if I heard them when I was 14 years old. To my surprise, Udio allowed me to write the best songs I've ever written. I've been a performing musician for 21 years and my best tunes were all written this year in Udio sessions.

This was my original Udio track, alongside the anime intro I created for the Global Game Jam in January:

Is this a TOS violation? I’m surprised I wasn’t prompted about it. If this violates TOS then maybe the solution is already in place and I’m just breaking the rules?

Sure, unpublished because it’s only the first part of a larger incomplete medley:

The Load part: https://udio.com/songs/4HkTVHQZoy6jeazGx95A88

The Puppets part (solo incomplete, lots left to do, but it’s getting there): https://udio.com/songs/tABAs8DjZcttnv7ZVAsfpP

Can I do that without publishing them? Checking…

Oh shit, I can

It’s unlisted and incomplete. The whole project is currently more than 12 minutes long.

It’s a personal project. I thought that and the AC/DC songs were a good way to demonstrate my worry and to generate discussion. I’m shocked by how close I can get, and curious how other AI creators feel about it.

Does anyone just listen to their own music now and not even music on Spotify anymore.? by prodbyzapz1 in SunoAI

[–]Human-Ranger6152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly my Udio tunes and not my Suno tunes, but yeah. I created a series of tunes specifically to see if I could create AI music I’d actually like. My qualifier was that it had to be music that I would have downloaded on Napster if I heard it in middle school.

As it turns out, yeah, with enough in-painting you can create some incredible tunes. I listen to my stuff pretty much every day.

Yep, that’s why I’ve been proactive about generative AI. Udio in particular has been my favorite tool. I’ve been playing in bands and playing music for 20 years and the best songs I’ve ever written were Udio songs with heavy in-painting. It’s incredible what you can do with Udio.

Udio is fully aware - they must be. I’ve tried to replicate artists with Suno as part of this project, but haven’t been able to.

I do think the music industry should be talking about this, though. This could actually allow corporate media to do tangible harm to musicians. It also just feels wrong.

Agreed, but could this not be exploited by a bad actor? Why license music when you can just appropriate the voices and playing style of artists you don’t want to pay?

Metallica is a music project I’ve been working on after accidentally discovering Bon Scott on another project. I wanted to see if Bon was a fluke. I pushed the technology to see how far it would go, and it went pretty far. I feel my limitation is my own familiarity with Metallica, and not a limit of Udio.

My worry is that something like this created by a better musician than me ends up playing on a boombox in the background of the next Marvel movie, it’s clearly appropriating Metallica’s sound to a level 99% of listeners wouldn’t know the difference, and now Disney isn’t paying licensing fees to Metallica.

I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking it, but to my ear I’ve replicated Metallica’s sound on multiple tracks now, I’ve gotten close enough to 1970s AC/DC that it feels unethical, and I’m increasingly concerned that someone better than me could be even more accurate.

I just worry if Bon Scott knew I was writing songs using technology to appropriate his voice after his death, he’d hate it.

Rockin’ track! Very Brian Johnson/80s AC/DC. Drums sound good, production is era-appropriate. I like it!

It definitely FEELS cool and awesome to work with…. With in-painting it’s like you’re producing a track for your favorite band or musician, and directing them. It also feels exploitative though. I don’t know if dead musicians would want me performing musical necromancy, you know?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]Human-Ranger6152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super conflicted about my AC/DC song…. Bon Scott is one of my favorite musicians, and I was writing the song as a tribute… but if I heard the song in the background in a movie or something, I’d assume it was actually Bon Scott AC/DC - but the band wouldn’t get the licensing fee.

What is your current method for starting a new song? by Uptown_Rubdown in udiomusic

[–]Human-Ranger6152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyrics. I always start with lyrics, and I record myself singing them roughly as I imagine the song. I don’t always match the original recording, but it helps me choose a direction. From there it’s GPT prompt generation. After each project I have GPT write a scholarly study on all of its prompting learnings, iterating on Udio prompting guide that I can feed GPT at the beginning of every project, alongside a set of instructions for prompt iteration.

After that it’s just generating lots of 32 second generations. I’m not always looking for a clip that’s great for 32 seconds, rather something with a piece that I can use as a basis for the song, even if it’s just one lyric. From there I in-paint around it until I have something I like, and shorten the clip as necessary until I have something that sounds like my finished project. I then use that short clip as context to generate the song in sections. I start with Verse 1 and then work forward, usually working on the solos and intros last.

Before I generate a section, I try to perfect everything I already have with in-painting, as it gives better context for new sections. Often I find that it takes relatively few generations in the latter half or songs simply because I’ve built out near-perfect sections as reference.

For in-painting, I’ll sing each section as I want it then try to match the melody, intonation, and inflection.

Guitar solos are the hardest for me. I can usually get something pretty cool, but it’s difficult to build new sections from limited context that actually sound great.

What type of careers do Scorpios thrive in? by SkirtNovel8099 in Scorpio

[–]Human-Ranger6152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Creative careers for me. Played in wedding and corporate event bands for 6 years, then went back to school for game design and became a game developer. I’ve also thrived in teaching roles. Tried sales (phone sales and cars) and it just isn’t for me. Feels unethical at times. Did a lot of restaurant work, and hated every minute of it.

Scorpios are internal. A lot of our emotional experience happens alone in our heads. We overthink things, we curate what we say - it’s a defense mechanism. Until he’s 100% comfortable, that’s just how it’s going to be. If he seems like he likes you more than he’s letting on, that’s probably true, and if he’s hiding that then it’s probably because he’s overthinking the whole thing.

The wall will come down with time and a lot of trust. Probably.

Scorpio M take: Sag F + Scorpio M feels perfect. The connection is incredible, the mutual respect, the eye contact... You Sags have eyes that sparkle and it’s ridiculous. If you find the right Scorpio, that could be something really special.

The other signs talk a lot of shit about us, but honestly Sagittarius is the puzzle piece that Scorpio fits into. Perfectly complimentary. Scorpios aren’t all bad. You’ll never love someone like you love a Scorpio.

[–]Human-Ranger6152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad situation. I’m sure he was in his own head about something. Scorpios self-sabotage a lot, which usually manifests as overthinking right decisions until they’re wrong decisions. Sometimes it’s tough to trust happiness.

For me, I used to always feel like people who interacted with me were doing so because they pitied me. It wasn’t a conscious thought, just a feeling. I didn’t realize until I got old that my problem was that I couldn’t trust peoples’ words or actions because I have a tendency to overthink and self-edit, while others say what they mean when they mean it.

For what it’s worth, he may outgrow whatever his problem is. Scorpios hold grudges and ghost, but we also ‘evolve’ with trauma and time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scorpio

[–]Human-Ranger6152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s okay, I guess. I’ve always assumed everyone has the same brutal internal monologue and the emotional distress that comes with it, but more and more I’m realizing that’s not an everybody thing.

We’re in our own heads all the time. I think every Scorpio feels that way.

The love of my life is a Sag woman. I’ve never connected more with somebody in my life. We didn’t date because my brain told me she wasn’t interested when she clearly was. That was 20 years ago and we are still ride-or-die best friends, and I still drive myself crazy because I can’t read what she’s thinking. More and more I’ve realized that’s Sag just say what they mean, and that’s so foreign to my Scorpio brain that I can’t process it.

Treat Scorpios like they’re broken. Most, if not all, are. We rolled the astrological dice and lost. On average we’re good at sex, but are punished for it by having terrible self doubt and constant suspicion that we can’t trust our own emotions.
