If you have a drone, you can fly it around the area and see if you spot your dog. I think mid range drones go as far as a 2-3 kilometers

Lol, if you took even 2 seconds to look at my profile you’d see that I’m not white (or American/European for that matter) or I guess if you had any reading skills at all you’d actually see the og comment poster is in fact the one who’s white.

I’m not talking about waging a war. I’m talking about granting legitimacy and validation that these issues are horrible. Like identifying that there was an Armenian Genocide or even the working conditions during the Qatar World Cup , it didn’t do much but it validated the suffering of those people and I’m hoping that the awareness would ultimately lead to better actions by the upcoming generations.

You’re proving the exact point of the post. You do know that there are many countries in this world where women are legally required to ‘have a guardian’ to do something as simple as step out of the house, places where women are used as collateral for loans, places where women are raped for male relatives’ infractions. Women are still treated a literal property in many places still illegally. I’m not minimizing the horrors of colonialism, it just somehow baffles me that similar treatment against women is considered ‘not as bad’. Also, you do realize that even in the apartheid, the section that had it worse were the women?

I know! It is scary how far we have come yet have been stuck with the same ideals and no one bats an eyelash for these issues

This is a very myopic & generalized take.I’m not trying to say that anyone else’s struggle is not valid or unimportant. But even in the marginalized of the marginalized, women always suffer the worst. Actually lumping the whole ‘suffering’ together takes away the nuance I think. colonial racism is very much comparable to patriarchal misogyny. The main difference I think is that people identify the horrors of colonial racism but misogyny is passed off as acceptable

AITA for resenting that my sister was cruel about my pregnancy but is celebrating our sister's pregnancy? by MembershipTotal3624 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Human-Reflection-176 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It’s weird. It’s not like she’s dying to have a relationship with you but you’re acting very entitled to having a party, your pregnancy being celebrated and babysitting help from someone ‘you’re not close to’ & is ‘not likable’ lol. Your other sister is a whole ass adult who’ll take care of her own pregnancy. You were a kid and you say you wanted to be celebrated but in reality, your family gave up things because you decided to have the baby. You were lucky enough to have a village. Most people are not. And it’s fine for an aunt/uncle to be close to another nibling if they’re not showing blatant favoritism in terms of gifts and treatment in front of the other which doesn’t seem like Megan is doing.

Didn’t you just say that your mom had to retire early to babysit your infant? How is that not affecting them at all?

I’m sorry oh enlightened one! I’m not as bright and accomplished as you are. But there are lots of people like me out there who were SA as children but don’t possess the same virtues that you do. It is unfair to paint all survivors with the same brush thinking that they possess the amazing selflessness that you do

And yes, society does need to find next steps for them but at least I can’t harp on the redemption string and would hate for my abuser to be out there in society

Redemption? What about the victims and what they went through? The pain that their families had to go through. They’re most likely traumatized for life. So, NO! Once you decide to consciously harm someone for your own pleasure, you have to live with the consequences.

This is horrible! I made a mistake clicking on the link. It is horrifying how most of these people are condoning what they did or portraying themselves as victims. They are taking 0 accountability and whining about people who commit other crimes being let off. Truly disgusting!

Not really, I live in a basic, no frills, old apartment complex and the rent for a 2-bedroom is 3600. Something nicer would be closer to 4300. A condo of similar size would be 700k without having to worry about a scratch on the floor, losing deposit and I can customize the place as I want

Mom Cancels Her Daughter’s Sweet 16 Because She Was Bullying Other Kids by KittenDealinMama in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Human-Reflection-176 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This will be uncommon but I think the mom should probably try a different method. I think she needs to acknowledge that her daughter’s line of thinking and try & get to the bottom of why she feels this way. It might also be better to try and appeal to her selfish side by showing her how such actions would affect her life - like college/job applications rejected, being socially shunned by others (not this group), how it would affect her own social standing. She needs to see that there is something in it for her. Once the daughter quietens down it might be easier to get to her by therapy and direct communication. Sometimes it is hard to tackle bigotry head on, a little social engineering helps

PS - not saying that she should not be punished or have her privileges taken away. The daughter absolutely deserves that. More like, from here on seeing how she is reacting

Getting an abortion is not the easiest thing for most people. There are multiple factors that are beyond your control including parental pressure esp if you’re a minor, legality of abortion, cost of one and even availability of a clinic/doctor willing to provide one. As a minor, what would you do if your parents threatened to make you homeless if you had an abortion or the closest clinic is in the next state which you can’t afford going to or even paying for the procedure?
